Food was good except dissert – Stopped in West Linn on the way home from PDX. Corned beef was good but sparse. Soup was good. Tuna salad OK.
We had the cinnamon roll, caramel sauce, ice cream special for dessert. The cinnamon roll was stale and cold, the caramel sauce was gritty/grainy and cold. Ice cream and whipped cream were as expected.
Service was good generally, but when told of disappointment in dessert, our waitress just shrugged and said oh well.
Very disappointing as the desserts at 22nd street were always a highlight of the meal. We will probably try one more time, but not more than that unless it improves. If 22nd street goes down too, we'll switch to the Elephant Cafe which has parking.
Big Disappointment – I couldn't wait for this restaurant to open in West Linn. My husband, two neighbors and I gave it a try the second week after it opened. The atmosphere was nice, the food was just okay, and the waitstaff didn't seem to know what was going on. The teenage girl who waited on us didn't know if the eggs florentine came with potatoes or not, and instead of asking someone, just said, "I don't know." I was disappointed by their "signature" coffee. Tasted like plain old Folgers to me. I decided to give it another try today. Again the waitstaff didn't know what was going on. I asked for black tea and received green tea. When I asked, very nicely, for black, he seemed put off. I ordered the Lox and onion scramble, from the eggs section, and received a bagel with cream cheese and lox. So disappointed. Won't go back again.
Rose's Deli – New Lloyd Center location is just ok on the food, desserts are a huge disappiontment. But the service? It's really below par. Rarely crowded, get seated right away most times, but last visit had to wait 30 min to get WATER! The manager could care less. 2 hours and 15 min to get burger and dessert. We should have walked out. We were going to use them for a big catering job next week, needless to say, we have chosen another. Won't waste my time or money on that place again. Stay away from the desserts, all show no flavor.
Terrible customer service – This deli is a nightmare. Staff repeatedly loses orders, and management is rude. Food is overpriced for the value -- about $2 more than comparable food at other local delis, and the wait is awful. You will wait in a long line for 10-15 minutes, even for a morning latte, and then wait again for your food. On the plus side, when you get your food, it is good. The wraps are wonderful, the soup is good, and the bagel dogs are heavenly. Be wary, however, of the pre-made food in the morning -- it is from the night before.
Editorial Review by Leilani Wertens – A local favorite since 1956, this Jewish deli and bakery is known for its reuben sandwiches, enormous cakes and gooey cinnamon rolls.
Not A Bakery – The cake was no good and the sandwich was horrible. This place is faaarrr of the radar! I found out that they don't even bake the stuff anymore it is brought in from somewhere. This is not even close to the name they are trying to live off!
Horrible Service – The food here is OK. However it is not worth the way the staff treats you. I've eaten from Rose's a handful of times and have always been treated really rudely. I am referring to the location in the Wells Fargo Center on Fifth Ave. Not sure if the 23rd location is any better.
Great experience! – Read about your return in the business journal and thought we would give Roses a try. I must say, we were all very impressed with the service, food and decor! Our family loved Rose's in the 70's and we certainly love it today. The Rose's experience certainly met our expectations........glad to see you are keeping the tradition going.
Grandma Rose would jump out of her grave.... – I grew up eating at Rose's on NW 23rd from 1957. Roses was known for the quality of service and the great quality of everything they had. They also had the best cakes anywhere around. I relocated for 12 years and just came back. The NW 23rd store was nothing like the old Roses. Bad Quality of food and only so so service. The cakes were dry. They look kind-of like they did but I was disappointed in the quality... So off to the Roses in Sherwood thinking maybe they did it right. Forget it. Same issues... In fact I ended up taking my cake home some 18 mikes away and it was not what I ordered. I emailed my concerns to Rose's Management and they have never responded. Grandma Rose would jump out of her Grave if she knew how bad the Roses name is now.
Avoid – It seems to be for people who either have no idea of what a deli should be or you don't appreciate cuisine.
The Reuben's are repulsive, the food is disgusting and the huge cakes are ostentatious and taste bad.
Kornblatt's is much closer to a NY deli but even that one
