Fruits and veggies so colorful, it makes it one of the most picturesque activities to participate in on a Saturday morning.Peruse the vendors, sample the yummy goodness, pick out something you have no idea how to cook and turn your Saturday night into a culinary adventure. Also this summer, kids 7-11 can participate in cooking classes taught by the Culinary Institute instructors and students and are only $5 per child! See the Portland Farmers Market website for details and to sign up.

One of my favorite farmer's markets in the country (and I've been to nearly a hundred) South Park Blocks are an inviting venue to peruse the incredible bounty of Oregon, enjoy a meal from one of the many prepared food vendors or discover s new heirloom variety.

Even if you don't consider yourself a farmers’ market person (weirdo!), don’t miss this array of produce and artisan goods so expansive and well-curated it’s consistently named one of the best markets in the nation. Go early if you have an aversion to getting elbowed, go later if you love limitless people watching.

Come to PSU with an empty stomach and leave with a gut full of samples from cheese stands, Dave's Killer, and your own shopping bag.

Want to spot celebrity chefs amongst the peppers and watermelons? Head out as soon as the market opens—chefs like to beat the crowd and get first dibs on the best produce. Stop by Baird Family Orchards for the best peaches and nectarines, Fressen for an outstanding pretzel roll, and Tails & Trotters for some pork pate and you’ve got yourself a picnic. Tip: Bring your own coffee, because the java lines can be looooong.

Food artisans provide goodies for farm-to-table eats. – The granddaddy of Portland’s farmer’s market scene, this bustling market sprouts up in the South Park Blocks every Saturday from March through December. Just after the morning market bell tolls, foodies, chefs, and young urban families crowd into the sidewalk aisles. Shoppers browse booths teeming with fresh, seasonal produce and artisan goods like pate, olive oil, and cookies and cakes to take home. In the center of the market, outdoor food court vendors serve up hot coffee, tamales, and breakfast sandwiches to fuel the shopping experience.

Traveling market features some of Oregon's freshest fruits and vegetables as well as other organic fare. – In Short
This is the place to shop if you appreciate fresh produce from local farmers. This mobile market makes four stops in Portland throughout the year. In the spring, you'll find all kinds of vegetables, fruits and herbs--everything from lettuce, rhubarb, apples and cucumbers to morel, porcini and shiitake mushrooms. In addition, local bakers sell their homemade breads, pies and other baked goods. You can also find fresh flowers, organic meats and seafood and dairy products.
