Turn-of-the-century castle lives in quiet dignity among the mid-rises on Peachtree. – The History
Amos Giles Rhodes built the castle now called Rhodes Hall in 1904 as the centerpiece of his 114-acre estate. He constructed the residence of Stone Mountain granite in the Romanesque Revival style and adorned it with High Victorian interiors. Today, the historic house museum sits at the edge of busy Peachtree Street and offers guided visits and behind-the-scenes tours of the mansion. The nostalgic setting is perfect (and available) for weddings, receptions and other special moments.

The Museum
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the great structure is headquarters for the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. The Trust manages two other historic houses--the Neoclassical McDaniel-Tichenor House in Monroe and the antebellum Hay House in Macon. In Atlanta, Rhodes Hall shares a passport for discounted admission with the Herndon Home, a Classical-style residence built by African-American entrepreneur Alonzo Herndon just a few miles away in 1910.
