great food, amazing location, limited hours – The Point is the cafeteria for Huntsman Cancer Center. They are only open for lunch M-F so if you have a job it's a little hard to get up there. It can get crowded around 12-1pm. We love the quesadillas but the carver station is always good. The portions can get huge but the price is always right. We love the point and always go when we have the afternoon off.

Great food and a view that can't be beat! – The point is an upscale cafeteria-type restaurant on the 6th floor of the Huntsman Cancer Institute. You can get pretty much anything you want here; Chinese plates, Mexican/Southwest plates, roast beef or ham on the carving block, burgers, sub-style sandwiches, huge salads, soups, and fabulous desserts. The menu is vast and and fairly diverse, with plenty of options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Everything on the grill is made to order (including fries) and you can customize your burger, burrito, salad, or whatever to your individual tastes. I particularly enjoy the burrito plate. You get your choice of three different wraps (tomato, spinach, or whole wheat), three different meats (chicken, beef, or chile verde), and two different beans (pinto or black), then they fill it with cheese, salsa, and sour cream, throw it in the oven for a minute and then smother it with more cheese and red (or green) sauce. By the time your burrito is constructed you've got about a pound of food (maybe more!) and of course chips and salsa on the side, all for around $6. The dining room is beautiful, as you are sitting in probably the highest indoor point (no pun intended) in the entire Salt Lake valley. On a clear day you can easily see out towards Grantsville to the West and the point of the mountain down South.

The only real complaint I have about the point is that it is not open on weekends or on weekdays after about 4pm (I think). They do weddings there to, catered by Gastronomy, and the one I went to was absolutely perfect.

The view and good values make this a place to go for a pleasant change of pace for breakfast or lunch. – The Scene
Tucked up on a sixth-floor corner point of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, The Point is a spacious, high-ceilinged triangle that seems to be mainly windows, allowing fine views of the adjacent Wasatch Mountains and the Salt Lake valley.

The Food
Served cafeteria-style, but any resemblance stops right there. Gastronomy runs the restaurant as a non-profit venture, so it's fine food at a good price. The bay shrimp Louie salad, Market Street clam chowder ($3), and a marinated portobello sandwich ($4.29) are among the lunch choices, with stations for hot carved meats ($5.99), Asian, and Southwest fare. Quality ingredients make for a fine breakfast, including omelets and a big plate of bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Blueberry pancakes or waffles add perspective to a contemplative morning meal here.
