Awful awful food, worse service LISTEN to THIS!!. Went with my 9 year old son whose favorite food is sushi. We usually go to Akebono on Freeport (HIGHLY recommended!), but stopped in Mana on our way to my son's piano lesson. We let them know that we were in a hurry and need to leave in 1/2 hour and that it was our first time there. We ordered 3 rolls (rolls are "1/2 off".) The rolls come SMOTHERED in an orange sauce--i could swear it is the same sauce that In 'N Out Burger uses! My son and I try to muster a roll and only make it 1/2 through one. I tell the chef that there is too much sauce so he takes the roll and proceeds to WIPE OFF THE SAUCE with a NAPKIN!!! I couldn't believe it! I said "no, never mind that, I will just pay for one," but he acts like he doesn't understand me (but I know he does.) So, when it's time to leave, the roll is not taken off. So i say, I am only going to pay for one of the two smothered rolls and he gets angry with me. I told them i don't have time b/c my son has a piano lesson and both he and the waitress proceed to just ignore me. So, I left my drivers licence on the counter and I said I would be back to resolve it after my son's lesson. So, I come back at 6pm and they have decided that I shouldn't get the sushi roll taken off--that the menu says there is sauce on it. WHAT?? Then they just ignored me again (keep in mind my 9 yr old son is with me the whole time!) So, I just said "does this mean it's resolved?" and he just said "go, go. don't pay." So, i start to walk out and he ran past me, says he's "calling the police" and LOCKS ME IN the restaurant!!! With customers in there! Unbelievable. Actually, I might just file a police report about this. I actually ended up just paying for our drinks and one roll (which i shouldn't have had to really b/c it was such an awful experience!). Just do yourselves a favor and DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!! Awful awful awful mean mean mean.

Very happy customer. I discovered New Edokko back in Nov 2004 and have faithfully returned weekly ever since. The food is awesome and not too expensive. The noodles are so great I could have them everyday. I was extremely surprised to read the review about the customer who got bad service. The people there are so nice I am greeted evertime I walk in and out the door. I have taken friends and family there to dine and have never heard one complaint. I would highly recommend it.
Worst Service Ever. I visited New Edokko for lunch and must admit I never got to eat the food. It looked fine and the place was about 3/4 full at 12:00pm. I took a seat at the sushi bar and sat, and sat, and sat for exactly ten minutes (I started to time it because it was so unbelievable.) No one said hello, no one said I'll be with you in a minute. No I sat and stared at the sushi chef who tried to avoid eye contact with as well. I finally got up and walked out and no one noticed. I don't know about you but, the charm of a japanese resturant is the gracious way the customer is treated and appreciated - these people could care less. Better to keep on driving.
