The view's truly spectacular, but the Spanish/Cuban fare could use a bit more spice.

Stuck in 1905 – This restaurant has not updated the menu since 1905. If you are a member of AARP, maybe this is the place you can enjoy. The food was NOT very good: Overcooked rice and undercooked chicken. The waiter offered to microwave the chicken to cook it more!!! The portions would qualify you for "The Biggest Looser" show in no time. Maybe the way to enjoy this place it to skip the food, order some wine and watch the view. But we still need to get dinner somewhere.

I gave it 2 starts for the location only, I would not go back!

Not worth a dime – I have to say, it's hard for me to leave a restaurant hungry, but that's what happened. I ordered the Snapper Special that promised a traditional and exceptional Spanish dish of fish and vegetables. It didn't mention that half were breaded and fried. In the end, I payed $24.95 for 4 bites of overcooked fish and extremely salty rice. I was ignored by the waiter who explained that he had a table of 16 to care for as he hurried off leaving the bill. Upon leaving, I expressed that the food and service was lacking. The response was a tilted head and an "AWWWW." I travel across the US on business. I can't remember the last time I didn't leave a 20% tip. I can now sadly mark the day I left less than 10%. The view of the ocean and pelicans was nice, wine selection average.

Afternoon snack with a view – Food was good - not spectacular, but it's a lovely place to watch the little planes take off and the dolphin boats go out. Good for a little pick-me-up snack.

The view's truly spectacular, but the Spanish/Cuban fare could use a bit more spice. – The Scene
It's a beautiful sight. If you look west, there are the big towers of St. Pete lit like carnival rides at night. If you look east, there's the big black bay and the distant lights of Tampa. Since the restaurant occupies an entire floor, every table has an equally spectacular view. Order drinks and a few appetizers, sit in one of the comfy chairs and the 360-degree view the restaurant affords.

The Food
Their sangria is a thin, mediocre version of the real wine-and-fruit Spanish specialty. The snapper "alicante," one of the Columbia's signature menu items, makes you expect something special but sadly falls short. For dessert: the Spanish flan. It's acceptably good, but not extraordinary.
