Fans of the stars reach new heights at Cleveland's space place. – The Scene
Located on the grounds of NASA Glenn, one of NASA's premier research facilities, NASA Glenn Visitor Center is a real treat for every kid (or grownup) who's ever looked up at the stars with wonder. Here you can see the Apollo Command Module used on Skylab 3, plus a full-scale replica of the Centaur rocket. You can countdown to a simulated launch in the Launch Control Center. One of Ohio's favorite sons, John Glenn, is well represented, from his first Mercury flight to his recent flight aboard the Space Shuttle.
New in '99
The Space Communications Gallery has an interactive look at satellite communication. Public tours of NASA Glenn itself are also available, subject to operating schedules. Tours are free, but you must make reservations.
