Tourist fun for locals – Taking a long walk with best friend I ended up on the wharf. Although the sleugh of seafood stalls made her stomach turn it was fun checking out the tourists and strolling along the wharf...I even bought my niece a t-shirt. I always wondered where all the tourists go after I watch them leave the airport.
Touristy, but fun – To call this a tourist trap is a bit much. Yes, it appeals to tourists. But there's plenty to see -- and it's free. If it's crab season, it's fun to get one right after it's been boiled, and have it cracked and cleaned right in front of your eyes. Throw in a loaf of sourdough and a bottle of red wine and you've got a meal made in heaven.
Nice For Visitors – I have been to Fisherman's Wharf many times over the past years. I will always encourage visitors to go as you can't beat the view, the sea smells, the people watching and some of the old stand-by local merchants that remain (crab booth, scomas, lou's). It is a nice experience.
