Wasabi recently had a make over and is back in business. I like to take people who don't really love sushi here as the creative rolls have lots of tempura and seared options for those who worry over raw fish.
When will Wasabi Re-Open?. I'm a big fan of Wasabi Bistro, but they've been closed a long time (as of December 2010). Please, fire your contractor, get one in that can do a better/faster job. The website originally said it would reopen in October, now they say February 2011, but I walk by everyday, and no work is being done.
The freshest nigiri sushi. I had heard for years that Wasabi was good. I finally went for dinner and was impressed with the extensive menu. Our large group ordered a bunch of rolls. There were so many to choose from and when six of them came out, they were visually stunning. I liked them alright--- there's too much going on w/ tempura, sauce, the fish wrapped around the outside...they all seemed like versions of the same roll. Maybe we didn't choose well...dunno but next time I'll stick w/ the nigiri because the fish is really fresh and tasty and they don't skimp on portions like some places. I think I'm more of a purist when it comes to sushi but it's great for groups and there's something for everyone.
good food, but what's with the day/lunch bartender?!. Decent food during happy hour, but I couldn't wait to get out of there! What is with the short, stocky blondish bartender during the weekday? By far the most unfriendly, irritable bartender I've met since I've been in Seattle. He could make an experience there so much better if only he'd take two minutes to acknowledge a customer and not seem so irritated by taking my order. And it wasn't like he was busy since there were only 2 other customers there at 4p! Someone remind him that Wasabi Bistro is not a swanky bar in NYC where hot bartenders might have some license to be cold.... Manager, lighten this guy up!
Hopping Bistro in Belltown.
If you're looking for good sushi in a happening spot with good service, Wasabi Bistro is it.
Serving Japanese fusion in a contemporary setting, Wasabi Bistro is always bustling. It's the perfect place to bring out of town guests as well as a first date.
Some items not to be missed are the warm mushroom salad and Romantic Mermaid roll. They also have a great happy hour with a variety of drink and food specials. I recommend the okonomiyaki seafood pancake, a rich seafood crepe, paired with the Pear Passion sake.
Valet parking is available evenings.
Fantastic rolls!. Wasabi has some of the best rolls i've ever had...highly recommend volcano and rock star rolls. I prefer to sit at the bar. The bartenders are very friendly and provide great service.
Amazing Food and Amazing Staff!!!. Wasabi is one of my favorite restaurants! The Second Ave. Roll is definitely something to write home about! Tony and Rob are extremely friendly and are the reason that I will only sit at the bar! Thanks guys for always making everyone feel so special and taken care of each time!
Great for a party. We had a large group gathering and decided on sushi. We called for a lot of rolls for pick up and they were very accomodating, ready in 30 minutes. They threw in some edamame too. Rolls were good! Its the kind of place you need to sample and see which rolls you like best.
Good eats and quick seats. I like this place. The happy hour is great, and you can try a bunch of little stuff with a friend or a few friends and its pretty cheap. The sushi is very good too and the atmosphere is nice but chill. I did have guy server there one time that must have sipping the sake a little to much in the back or something though. He could not for the life of him figure out how to separate the bill for my friends and I. Other than that it is a decent price with a good variety and its pretty quick.
Good sushi. This place has great sushi and good happy hour prices. Also, good service. But if you're looking for an entree other than sushi, I would not eat here.
great sushi, great customer service. I had a really great experience at The Wasabi Bistro this past weekend. I brought my family who I had not seen in quite a while. The staff was so friendly that they broke the ice. From the management to the servers , they were all perfect. They are all very professional but know what to say at the right time. Not to mention the service was great. The sushi wowed my family and I'll be back as soon as I can. I will always be thankful for that night.
