One of the coolest indoor locations in the city. Period..
The Experience
The sprawling, cavernous Anchorage is inside the base of that testament to human fortitude: the Brooklyn Bridge. Not near or beside or connected to the bridge--but actually inside. The space boasts brick walls and gothic vaulted ceilings that float up about 150 feet from the floor, with an intriguingly dungeon-like feel. If you've never seen this place, you're missing a chance to wander, hopelessly lost, through one of the city's most wonderous environments.
The Appeal
Used mostly in the summer for incredibly weird and experimental festivals of art and music, the Anchorage isn't exactly a club. But it turns into one every so often, with DJs and electronic-music producers clamoring to play in one of the most acoustically unsettling settings around.
