Classic Dive. Classic old man's bar although the clientele was fairly young, mainly men watching the baseball games. Prices are cheap, $3.00 for domestic bottles. Jukebox is a mix of older country, bluegrass and 60's pop. There are 2 tv's, on each end of the bar. Not much else to do here but drink and watch the world go by. Not many bars like this left.

This friendly Park Slope Irish bar has been pouring pints since before Prohibition--with prices that recall that era.. The Scene
This is not your father's bar--this is your grandfather's bar. Heck, it might even have been your great-grandfather's bar. But peer across the darkened, chip-tiled and tin-ceilinged room: That cute hipster in the high-backed booth is certainly not your great-grandmother, nor is her shag-haired companion in slim corduroys any kind of senior citizen. Order yourself a nicely pulled pint (it'll make up for the bar's scanty measured shots), sit back and observe low-key pickups among Brooklyn's subtly stylish.

The Draw

That chunk of change you got back back from your five-dollar bill will fit nicely in the jukebox, which stocks Buzzcocks, Merle Haggard and Dean Martin along with indie-rock bands of the moment. It's a diverse and convivial clientele who've made O'Connor's their home, especially on weeknights, when only the ample outer-borough cockroaches will fight you for your barstool.

ssshhhh. I've beencoming her for years, with different guys and girls. The excelellent bartender knows how to be discreet, if y'know what I mean, and always remembers my drink. The guys are cute here, and the girls are real-and whether I'm dressed like a hoochie mama or in my gym clothes- nobody makes me feel uncomfortable.

where was I?. This is THE BAR. It's just a bar folks. Nothing to get all dolled up for- but if you wanna meet new folks, or just stare at the walls, you're welcome here. Funny to find young sober bartenders when yer expecting Popeye- but I love this place for being exactly what it is.

Boy, do I like O'Connor's. I mean, what a great bar.

Granted, my taste in bars is probably a little different than yours. I don't like pounding house music; I don't like the button-down open-collar crowd; I don't like over-priced drinks, celebrity sightings, rope lines, cocktails of strange hue, or grimacing bouncers. I like dim places with dart boards and cheap drinks and beer in cans and people making clandestine rendevouses. And while there's no dart board and no tap beer and the weird guy next to us was listening in on our conversation the whole time we were there, O'Connor's fits the bill just fine. I like O'Connor's a lot.

Quintessential Dive Bar. We cna't quite figure out what the drinks cost, but they are darn cheap. The seats are all ripped up. The bathroom could be more private. The juke box is good. It's just the quintessential dive bar - the place to go to get drunk with your friends for cheap while looking at other people doing the same thing.
