Good Food, Terrible Service. Better than standard Thai fare (and really good sushi). Ate there on Saturday night, had no wait for a table. But once we got to our table we had to wait over 30 minutes for a waiter to appear to take our drink order - after we kept asking for our waiting for the past 20 minutes. Once they took our order though everything came our pretty quick, and the food was great.
CLOSED AGAIN DUE TO HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS. This is the second time in three years that Planet Thailand had to close its doors dure to health code violation. You would think they learned their lesson the first time.
The Worse Service EVER!. I will say the food is good but I have been there 4 times and only once was the service good and that was when it was REALLY slow. They act like you are a big pain in the butt if you ask where your drinks are after you have been sitting there for 20 min. You will be lucky if your food comes out in order let alone together. I have NEVER been to a place where they just do not care about the service at all. It's a shame because the food is good, but after this last time (They forgot a order and then got rude when we asked about it) I don't see myself going again.
Planet Terrible. I will start off with a positive... the food is tasty. but that's it. After waiting for 20 minutes for our drinks when we sat down, we then ordered our food. We finally get our appetizers, begin eating and two of the five entrees come out 5 minutes after the appetizers. The table is not overcrowded with food and two people's entree's are getting cold. We finish the appetizers, about 15 minutes later, and then the other 3 entrees come out. When we asked to speak to a manger we were told that there was no manager or anyone in charge on site.. keep in mind this is a saturday night around 9pm(prime dining time)...Shocked we started talking to the hostess hoping she would offer some sort of condolences for our poor service and she said "What do you want me to do". Needless to say, they did not care about our crappy service so I do not care to eat there again.. there are plenty of other places in that area that actually care about their customers.
PLANET TORTURE!!. I have been coming to this place for a few years now and I will never go back again!!! The last time I went it was pretty bad but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went back with friends last week. It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had!! The service was unreasonably horrendous!!! When we started to complain, they could care less!! They said that there was NO MANAGER or anyone in charge that we could talk to. The waitress did not even acknowledge that we were unhappy!! Save yourself the aggravation, IF YOU WISH TO ENJOY YOUR NIGHT DON?T GO HERE! ... plenty of other good restaurants in town!!
Excellent Thai Restaurant. Been here 3 times and it has been tasty and cheap every time. Great atmosphere. They have a really neat boat turned fountain hanging in the front room. They've got a really good menu with cheap food and drink options. Among the top 3 Thai restaurants I've eaten in all of Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens. Going back tonight.
PlanetThaiCrap. HANDS DOWN, the worst service ever. Empty restaurant on a Tuesday night, the brilliant hostess sat us under a canoe by a tank of bacteria filled water. Not only were our voices fighting the flowing water, the loud alternative rock - courtesy of our Stuck-in-the-90s bartender - was blasting. Now the waitress was something else. Gave us no attention. In fact, looked past us. Never returned to our table after taking our order. She stood at the bar staring at her notepad, probably floored by her ability to be a raging " ". Unbelievable. Finally, I got up to ask for the check only to be pawned off to another waiter who threw me the bill and said "Here". There, you decide if you want to go to PlanetThaiCrap.
Below Average. The food is ok (definately have had better Thai food), decor is poor (go to Sea instead), service is ok. Prices are cheap and the beer selection is pretty good. If you dont live in Williamsburg , you might as well wait a bit longer to get a table at Sea right around the corner.
A good standby. I agree with many of the reviewers who say this place has gone downhill a bit with the gentrification of Williamsburg. (Oh, the horror.) One must take the good with the bad I suppose, and nothing compares to the horror of the L train. I digress. Do stick with basic dishes. For the money, you will get a good meal. Do NOT expect fabulous service. It's just not happening. They will bring you your food and your check and that's about it. Still, I always enjoy the food.
When it's bad it's bad and when it's good it's great. I've been going to Planet Thai regularly for at least 8 years. It used to be really great at first. Then, along with the commercialization and hyper-gentrification of the area, it went down and down in quality. I wouldn't experiment with too many things on the menu because they tend to be sorta inconsistent. Even though it's supposed to be Thai, I would say the sushi is the outstanding aspect of Planet Thai. if you stick to the basics, you'll be pleased. I've never had bad Pad Thai here. The Basil Chicken and Garlic Chicken are really great too. All the rolls i ever had were pleasing and best of all you can't beat the prices here. You can have appetizer and entree for less than 20 bucks. However, I must admit that the service has always been and continues to be atrocious but when you're playing such little money what do you expect. Don't forget that it's cash only which can sometimes be a hassle. Also it's always way too loud in there esp if the DJ is playing. Sometimes it's a little too dark. But if you want a basic sushi or thai meal, you won't go wrong. I haven't gone as often as I used to ever since I stopped by once last year and saw they had been shut down that day by the Dept of Health. I don't know what that was all about but it definitely scared me off, if someone knows about it please post.
