Mixed Feelings – The atmosphere is way too modern for my taste, but I could see others liking it. I had a really hard time finding something on the menu that sounded appetizing. My boyfriend called before our date to make sure they could accommodate a vegetarian. He was told that the chef was really great about making changes. However, their idea of "changes" meant cutting out the meat sections of the dinner without replacing it with anything. So, a vegetarian is given half of a dinner for the same price. The waitress was also really disrespectful about the situation even rolling her eyes. They also brought someone else's dinner to our table, realized their mistake, and moved the plates to the table next to us! If that had been my dinner, I would have been furious. That is really unsanitary. What if we had touched the food while they were figuring it out? The saving grace is that the wine was excellent!

Best Bar Snacks In Manhattan – Wow! I went to Brasserie 8 1/2 recently with my coworkers for an after work drink. The cocktails were wonderful and cheeper than anyone in town. Never have I been to a place with so many wonderful bar snacks. Everything from goat cheese croquetts to crostini with tomato was all delicious and not to mention all freebies. How could I forget the spanish style tortas and the mini croque monsieurs. 8 1/2 is my new after work spot!!!

Great Lunch on 5th Avenue – I had lunch at Brasserie 8 1/2 with some friends. We had the Kampachi Sashimi ($18), MIxed Green Salad ($12),Lobster Club ($26), and the Coca Cola Cobb Salad ($22).

Everything was artistically presented especially the Coca Cola Cobb. The flavors were as vibrant as the art work throughout the restaurant. Service was outstanding genuinely attentive.

I'll certainly be back soon!!!!

The Art of the Chicken – Brasserie 8 1/2 is perfectly located along 5th Avenue. A great proximity to shopping, which is why my girlfriends and I went.

Among the many things we had, there was one of honorable mention. The chicken. It was rubbed with anchovie and preserved lemon and cooked to a beautiful golden brown in the rotisserie. The moment I bit into the perfectly crisp skin, I knew they had mastered the art of cooking a perfect chicken. That is they cooked the legs and thighs beforehand so that the breasts are done at exactly the same time. Juicy and tender, it was as good as the art work that adorns the walls of the restaurant. In my opinion the chicken was only second to that of l' Amis Louis in Paris.

The dish was garnished with the most delicate gnocchi that was cooked in the drippings from the chicken in the rotisserie. I had to place my napkin over them to keep them from floating away as they were so light.

Donald was a wonderful help with suggestions. I could tell he genuinely understood the meaning of great service.

My family and I had Easter Brunch at Brasserie 8 1/2. They offered a wonderful array of items on the Buffet. From Omelettes to Gravlox, everything was wonderfully prepared. The pinnacle of Brunch besides the Easter Bunny would definately be the BBQ pork. So smokey and rich. I won't forget this one anytime soon. The brisket was spot on too. Never have I tasted it so tender, and with the saltyness of the cabbage, it was perfect. We had a wonderful seat right next to the kitchen. We frequently peeked inside to see the chefs working and with all of the art work made for a wonderful ambiance. I thought it was a great deal for only $55.The service was so attentive and welcoming. Kristina, our server, attended to our every whim. She went far out of her way to make us feel at home. I'll definately be back for the holidays. Thank you 8 1/2!!!

Dry Aged Duck – My mother and I recently had theatre tickets so we thought of Brasserie 8 1/2. They are a short distance from Broadway. We voiced our time restrictions which was gracefully met. We skipped the appetizer and just had entrees. I had the "dry aged duck". Apparently they hang their ducks peking style and let them dry over a period of several days. It was simply pan roasted and served with foie gras spatzle ($30). I never thought duck could taste more like duck. It was a perfect match with the Guigal Cotes du Rhone which was served by glass. Both were wonderful. My mother had the sole ($28) which was garnished with morels and spring peas. The fish was beautifully prepared. The peas and morels were a great introduction into spring. Deserts were a nice touch too.

I did lunch at 8 1/2 recently. The Lobster Bolognese is "A Must Have". The handmade angel hair was a perfect al dente. The service was wonderful. Our server, Jessica, really made us feel at home. She went out of her way to chat with us about the happenings around town. So many restaurants are about "turn and burn" in midtown, but not 8 1/2. I felt like we owned the table.

Lunch – I had lunch at 8 1/2 on Friday. It was just wonderful. Great location and I didn't have to wonder far from 5th Avenue. I had the Coca Cola Cobb Salad. It was a great riff on a classic. The chicken for the salad was marinated in Coca Cola and then fried. It was really tasty. Service couldn't be better. Geoffrey was very nice.

Best Brunch NYC – What a wonderful brunch. The huge shrimp and oysters were delicious. The salads were fresh and light. The roast beef was a perfect medium rare. All of the beautiful deserts makes it hard to watch carbs. Delicious, Delicious, Delicious!

New & Fresh – I recently had dinner at Brasserie 8 1/2. Being a fish lover, I appreciate chefs who devote some attention to the subject. The selection of crudo and fish was over the top. The Hamachi in Avocado was superb. I really enjoyed the oyster selection (10 to choose from). I'm still dreaming of the Halibut crusted with Lardo. Delicious.
