Beef is the theme at this Italian steakhouse, which features meat hooks on the walls. But the best thing is the superb Tuscan pastas, especially the supple, rich lasagna.

Beauty and Brawn – I love this place!

It is authentic New York.

It is run by a lovely family that puts its heritage first. Taking great care in staffing and creating an Italian countryside atmosphere.

If you need to make a reservation or book a party the manager could not make you feel more well taken care of. Every "t" is crossed and each "i" will be dotted.

If you like a Gin Martini you will have the best one you have EVER tasted when made by one of the finest mixologists in the City.

This truly is a place to live, laugh, love and most importantly eat.

GREAT cocktail menu – I went to Macelleria after work with a couple of friends. I know that you wouldn't normally think of a steakhouse as an afterwork kind of place, but they have the most amazing cocktail menu. I had a drink called Biscotti 48 that had averna, some sort of cream liqueur and a biscotti garnish and the Violetta - which was such a treat - Vodka, creme de Cassis, Prosecco, Lime Juice

Mint and Blueberry. We munched on some Zucchini fries, they were delicious. The bartender was top-rate, very old school and not an obnoxious hipster mixologist. I'm definitely going to come back and have dinner!

Love it – Macelleria is truly a stand-out in the meatpacking district. Forget neighbors Nero and Vento. Pastis is only good for people-watching. Macelleria is where it's at. Hurry in during fall and have the pumpkin ravioli, the best I've ever tasted. The staff is pleasant and the owners and manager are positively delightful!

Best Steak In New York City – I visited Macelleria for the first time after reading about it in Esquire's 20 Best Steak's In America and I was not disappointed. Although the magazine recommended the T-Bone, I shared the Porterhouse for Two with my wife and could have shared it with the couple at the next table - it was that big! I ordered it medium-rare and it was just right. The house steak sauce was a perfect compliment. Neither my wife and I are big drinkers, so I can't accurately comment on the wine list. The sides were solid, as well...we ordered fried zucchini and brussel sprouts. Dessert was a nice hunk of cheesecake. I'm definitely coming back.

great private party location – My company recently had a function at Macelleria and I was so impressed. We had our event in the wine cellar downstairs and it was fantastic. We started out with a tomato and mozzarella salad, then moved onto pumpkin ravioli, rib eye and mixed dessert. Ample portions and very resonable prices. The staff was very efficient and the managers and owners were very hands on making sure that everything ran smoothly. Highly recommended!

PERFECT! – Wow the downstairs wine cellar is amazing! If you can have dinner there. I had the best pasta carbonara ever. The prices are good and the atmosphere is excellent. I will definitely go back and tell all my friends.

Find some salt – Best in NYC? Not by a long shot. In my job I have the great fortune to eat at many top restaurants, and the food here was high quality ingredients that showed no flair or knowledge of seasoning. I have nothing bad to say about the atmosphere or service - I sat at the bar and both the hostess and the bartender were knowledgeable and attentive. But the food?!?! I had the shoestring potatotes - that had no salt whatsoever on them, the sauteed spinach - no flavor at all, and the bone in ribeye. Bone in ribeye is a great cut, but my "medium rare" was black and blue and had no salt or seasoning on it either. Certainly this meal was healthier than many steak joints that tend to oversalt food, but seriously, how can an undercooked steak and unseasoned sides get the best rating in NYC? Value / Price ratio is better at Krispy Kreme or Five Guys - and at the price Marcelleria competes at, there are too many better restaurants to count in Manhattan alone, let alone traveling to Brooklyn for real quality and abuse.

A really nice time – Took my boyfriend to dinner with 8 of our friends last night. Wanted to sit outside but at 9pm that definitely wasn't happening. Order a round of cocktails at the bar. My bf's "dirty" vodka martini was best I've ever tasted, my henessey side, however, was heavy on lemon, light on the henny. No biggie tho. Everyone amazingly showed up on time and when I reported this to our hostess, she was a little caught off guard. Rebounding quickly she offered us a table in the main dining room adjacent to the bar. We all knew immediately it wasn't going to work. There were only 8 real place settings around a rectangle and the loud din made it nearly impossible to hear. High ceilings and wooden floors make for super high reverb. Once we informed her of the table no go, she offiered us a table in the downstairs wine cellar. It was perfect. A round table in the corner. It was comfortably cooler than upstairs and significantly quieter. Jackpot.

The food was as good as i've read in the reviews. The carbonara, mushrooms, grilled calamari, T-bone and the special filet were all homeruns. We had three bottles of excellent chianti classico and cali zinfandel. The bill, amazingly enough, was less than $80 a person!!

We celebrated in high style in a private room at a great restaurant on a Monday, without having to pay out the wazoo for it. Bonus plan.

The pastas, OMG, the pastas – I know that this is a steakhouse, but I can't say enough good things about the pasta. I recently had the Pappardelle al cinghiale with wild boar sauce and it was so amazing. The pasta is hand-made and you can tell..the sauce had nice big chunks of meat that were velvet-y and so flavorful. My dining companion had the Straw & hay tagliolini with peas & prosciutto and that was an heaven in a bowl. Again, hand-made pasta, delicious, salty prosciutto and a light cream sauce. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and it delicious, too, although a bit anticlimactic. The service was great and the atmosphere is perfect for a date.

Not worth the price – Went there on a Monday night for my girlfriend's birthday. I ordered a bottle of Barolo and they pulled the "we just ran out of that" and gave me a vintage 2 years later for the same price. Thanks! We had oysters and clams that were very fresh but shrimp was a little tough. We split a Porterhouse for two and the steak was cooked to our request. The filet was not as tasty as the strip but it was a quality steak nonetheless. Service was good. The waiter disappeared from when we ordered to when we paid the bill but there was still enough help so we didn't have to pour our wine, etc. Crowd looked a little touristy. Overall a decent dining experience but there are better places in the city to eat.
