Good Italian Imports – Interesting area if you appreciate good sausage, pasta, cheese Etc. Some much better than others be sure to check the side streets. Fiorella Bros. has the best sausage. Talluto's is best for pasta.
The best place to get fruits, veggies and delicacies from the Old Country. – In Short
The stretch of Ninth Street from Carpenter Street to just south of Washington Street offers the choicest selections of outdoor vendors, but there are a few places that are hidden well enough to escape notice. For cheese, head to DiBruno Brothers or Claudio's. Fish lovers must try Anastasi's. For the first-timer, try Giordano's--the mongers tend to be gentler there. When there, don't attempt to pick out the food yourself--it's not allowed.
Amazing – They have an amazing selection of cheeses. Although not all of them suited my taste, the ones I picked out for myself most definitely did!
this is the real deal – if you want the real authentic stuff you need to come right to the source. the philly italian market. Sarcone's deli, Di Bruno Bros. cheese, Isgro pastries, everything is right here. you can easily spend 1/2 day just walking around buying stuff, ducking into the different shops, eating lunch, and of course buying fresh bread, pasta, cheese and wine to take home for dinner that night.
Now I've seen everything! – You can find (and see) just about everything at the Italian market!
