New park means big new playground. – Recreation Ready
The newest park in the city system, Walker Ranch offers 45 acres of land, with further development expected in the near future. The park features an open-air pavilion with eight picnic tables as well as an adjoining playground. A half-mile of paved exercise trail is ready for joggers and roller bladers, and dirt trails welcome hikers. Pets and bikes are welcome. The park has received its historical designation by virtue of being a major site of Indian habitation for some 12,000 years. It was also the headquarters of Montegalvan, the North ranch of the Alamo.
