One of the oldest buildings in the city is home to one of the most powerful people in the state..
In Short
The mansion, one of the oldest buildings in Austin, has been refurbished numerous times since Governor Pease moved in in 1856. This includes letting First Lady Orline Sayers redecorate it in Victorian style in 1901 and a $4 million restructuring that finished in 1982. The mansion, which is also the fourth oldest governor's mansion in the U.S., is a National Historic Landmark and features several significant pieces, including Stephen F. Austin' s desk.
