Reviews for Strip District

This old industrial district is Pittsburgh's premier place to buy fresh produce, ethnic foods and gourmet delicacies. – Overview
Once run down, the Strip is now a thriving commercial market with funky shops and even a fashionable restaurant or two. At night, it's transformed into a clubgoer's delight. A great tourist area for atmosphere, the Strip is where locals in the know shop year-round for fresh produce and seafood. There is a diverse array of shops interspersed between the markets and grocery stores.

The Experience

Find oversized bagels at Schwartz's, enormous breakfasts at Deluca's, sushi and Korean specialties at Sushi Kim and seafood at Roland's. And of course, Primanti Brothers for late-night coleslaw and fries. For shopping, stop into Dreadnought Wines, a specialty wine store and Butler's Secret for gift baskets and wine accessories. At Penn Avenue Pottery and Wholey Balcony Cookware,
find specialty kitchen appliances. On Smallman Street, check out Society for Contemporary Crafts for innovative exhibits that highlight ceramics, glass, fiber, metal and wood.

The Chicen Strip – Well, you'll certainly find good food here, amoung other things. But you can't be faint of heart. These streets are packed and the roads are worse than the lines at an amusement park. You move about two inches every ten minutes a lot of the time. Other than that, the shopping is great. You can find practically everything from music to fashion, toys to jewlery.

I feel that the Strip district is one of the most unique neighborhoods in the Pittsburgh Area. I have lived in Pittsburgh all of my life and have not only frequented the Strip myself, but also take all of my out of town guests for a visit. The location is perfect and the cultural diversity keeps the spirit of the Strip alive. There are a few secret places in the Strip that people aren't even aware of. As iIsaid, The Strip Is It!!!
