I loved everything about Lucchesi's.Gone are these wonderful restaurant, of days gone by in the Valley. The place is spotless, the food is cooked to ordered, the glass wear on the tables sparkle and Les makes a personal visit to your table, with his interesting life stories. The prices aren't any higher then The Back Porch in Speers, but if you have a lot of drinks, it will drive your bill up. I always feel like I am going home to my grand fathers house for dinner when I go there to eat, you are even greeted at the door by Les himself. By the way he is in his 80's, so get there soon if you want to try it.Only open Thursday Friday and Saturday and yes they do only take cash, they started the restaurant before there was plastic money.

I hate to do this BUT we were absolutely and totally disappointed with the overall experience here. Terrible experience for a supposed 5 star restaurant. Poor service, dirty and spotted silverware, absolutely no elegance (a little charm but not much). The atmosphere and quality of food certainly did not justify the outrageous prices. The veal was good but the rest of the food was just so-so: certainly not nearly good enough to justify the price. Dinner is served with cold Italian bread and packaged butter in foil. A very limited and below-average wine list with very few choices. Once ordered, it took 15 minutes for them to bring the wine to our table. To top it off, they didn't open the wine at our table: it was opened behind the bar (and a divider) 'then' they brought the bottle to us. There was no wine aerator on the premises and they had to search for a decanter. We let it breath for 10 minutes and then tasted. It didn't taste like a 2010 Silver Oak, Alexander Valley (I should know since I have a few cases at my house). We informed them of the 'off' taste and asked the waitress to retrieved the cork for us; this took 5 minutes. When she brought it to us, It was cut 'evenly' in half. FYI: bad corks don't break 'evenly' in half - they fragment. It appeared as if the cork was literally cut in half. It led us to believe that they may have switched out the contents of their most expensive bottle for a much less expensive one (Coppola). You get the feeling that they just don't care enough to want to impress you. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you like driving to the ghetto and paying outrageous prices for average - good food with below average service and atmosphere.

High Cash in the Mon Valley – Great food, quality wines, high prices. Limited tables, so you need a reservation on most days. Oh, buy the way, they only deal in CASH! No credit or checks accepted. Bring your payroll because average check for two is over $100.

Like many towns in the Mon Valley, the memory of the mill is all that's left with small businesses and bars surrounding empty fields. – The Scene
Such is the case with Lucchesi's. Owner/chef Les Di Vitto and his wife, Pauline, have created an oasis of fine Italian food in the desert of steel mills past. The restaurant is small, with 12 tables and a bar, and it's elegantly fitted with white tablecloths and napkins, as well as fresh flowers everywhere. Service is friendly, with the waitress occasionally suggesting a special; they're knowledgeable and worth listening to.

The Food
Try the wonderful salad with switzer cheese, great pasta cooked al dente (try the mafalda and roasted peppers with havarti cheese), or the veal dishes as good as any available in the area. Desserts are all made in-house by Pauline, and are worth saving space for. The tiramisu is exceptional here.
