home made, Kosher, and worth the trip – Add delicious, daily home made soups to the reasons to stop by Milky Way restaurant! Although they're getting ever-more creative with toppings on pizzas, my favorites are the PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM WRAP (I like the whole wheat wrap option), the FISH FILLET SANDWICH - offered with options of lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles (I get it baked rather than fried, on one of their fluffy home made rolls), and- most of all - the SALAD BAR. I lunch there several times a week! The home made rolls, mushroom barley soup and butternut squash soups are not to be missed!
Worst pizza ever – I went to the milky way expecting to get good pizza all I got was junk the food tasted horrible i would not recommend there food to my dog or anybody for that matter. The service was slow it took them 20 minutes to take my order. And when it came with was not even completely cooked. When I buy food I want to be satisfied when I leave.
Excellent food, plenty of space, happens to be milk-kosher – Milky Way is a fixture of the Orthodox Jewish community in Squirrel Hill, although others should strongly consider it for its excellent foods. The pizza is among the best in Pittsburgh, and they have a number of other tasty things to eat (e.g. cheese fries) that are changing all the time. The layout is generous, giving plenty of space for everyone, and it's only rarely full. It closes on Friday a bit before sundown and reopens saturday after sundown (sometimes staying open late into the night). People interested in vegetarian sushi can enter the (connected) Sushelli.
Squirell Hill loves this kosher vegetarian eatery. – The Scene
A large, open, dining area with 18 tables and a counter in the back. Decorations are minimal, but the place is light and airy.
Milky Way is a kosher, vegetarian restaurant. Everything here is made fresh from scratch. There is homemade pizza, with outstanding, crisp dough, with any non-meat topping you can imagine available. Also served is the best falafel in the city: crispy balls with hummus, tahini, and Israeli salad, consisting of cucumber, tomato, and pickle, stuffed into homemade pita made on the premises daily.
More Meatless Items
There are vegetarian calzones of many varieties, as well as malawa, a middle-Eastern dish I've seen nowhere else: fried bread dough, which is dipped into a mildly spicy fresh tomato juice. Two freshly made soups are available daily. Another first for Pittsburgh is pasta with vegetarian meat balls and Bolognese sauce. Baked goods are also available, including garlic sticks and a chewy honey cookie.
