The place feels like your eating in your garage. The sounds also echo all over the place and you can't talk to people without shouting. So much staff is cruising around you it feels like your eating on the sidewalk waiting for a bus. It's stressful, not fun and lively, and the menus are poor designed. One of the worst websites ever.
Pleasant staff, tasty food – The food was really good, and the staff friendly - the host, the manager, our server - all were great and added to a pleasant weekday evening meal out. It beats many of the chain restaurants in Bloomington.
A festive atmosphere, potent margaritas and wallet-friendly prices lure crowds to this popular Mexican chain. – In Short
With friendly servers and goofy gimmicks, Chevys is a big draw for families and groups looking for a fun, affordable night out. A full bar and a dozen different margaritas attract a happy hour crowd, and a tortilla machine is often surrounded by children watching the dough-to-tortilla transformation. Fajitas, a house specialty, are available with nearly a dozen different fillings, from mesquite-grilled chicken to portobello mushrooms and asparagus. Desserts include flan and sopaipillas.
GREAT FRESH MEX! – I love the food. I am not one for "traditional" mexican food but I love Chevy's!! Sure some times the service lacks a little bit, more so about 4 years ago. Worth trying just once to see if you like it, but in my book it is in my top ten favorites. The salsa is the best!! YUM!
Disappointing – Great things have been said about Chevys, and my dining companion and I had to try the place. This location was cheerfully decorated and had a party-like atmosphere complete with loud music. Our table, in an unattractive location near the kitchen door, was uneven and rocked -- a tell-tale sign. The chicken fajitas I ordered were passable, but bland -- I actually had to salt the meat to give it some taste. My companion's combo was uninspiring -- while the taco was good, the chile relleno was awful. Refried beans had no taste, and the rice was spicy! Usually Spanish rice can be used to combat the effects of a spicy entree, but not this rice. This Chevys has a great location -- perhaps, due to serving so many tourists who won't be back soon, they are able to drop the ball on food prep and still stay in business.
Poor service at this Chevy's – I really like Chevy's, but this particular location has a problem with service. There also seems to be a big different is food preparation between different Chevy's locations. I would suggest the Chevy's Downtown Minneapolis location. The service is much better and the food is also better. It took almost 2 hours for lunch on a Saturday afternoon (we arrived around 1:30 pm)! Good thing we had plenty of time!
