Blues, Beer, BBQ.. Heaven – I go in this place Bi-weekly, I am in the area at dinnertime and don't make it home for Din-Din so I stop off here.
I get there fairly early and once your food is ordered and promptly served with great portions and like I love it Dry. I put on the sauce on the side and enjoy, drinking my tea. and OH no more tea.... Dudes I'm dyin' out in the dining room and I would appreciate a refill once in a while. I do understand that they are busy preppin' for Thursday Blues and all, Will it prevent me from returning.... UH NO! great food, Hot fresh and Great sausage, Good Grief I gotta go there now.
A Must Stop for Blues Fans – You must absolutely go here if you are a fan of the blues. On weekends or days before the live music starts you can listen to the all-blues jukebox which contains classics as well as many well-loved local bands.
The barbecue is great, but also try the Louisiana dishes and my favorite is the mixture of all three.
Pulled Porker and Beer Battered Fries are on the top of my list.
Great folks, always live music, always fun to meet new people at some of the long picnic-style tables. Or you can sit at a booth if you prefer, and get there early enough.
For 9pm bands (the norm) arrive at 7:30 to eat and get a good spot.
Very classy dive.
Great Place to spend an evening – You can have great BBQ an Blues in one setting. This place is always crowded and has some of the best music in KC if your into da Blues. It should also be listed in the Bars section.
Barbecue, beer and the blues. This roadhouse dishes up all three with equal intensity. – The Scene
Is Lindsay Shannon's passion blues, beer or barbecue? He couldn't decide, so he combined all three at his authentic roadhouse. Lunchtime brings corporate types and construction crews cheek-to-jowl. Well-worn checkered oilcloths on the tables and disposable plates only add to the homey grittiness. Live music runs Thursday through Sunday nights, usually around 9pm, but the crowd bellies up to the bar much earlier.
Slather those ribs and burnt ends with sauce and dig in. Or go Cajun with jammin' jambalaya, crawfish etoufe, or spicy red beans and rice. Wash it down with Blackened Voodoo, Dixie beer or a "Bucket of Blues" (five Pabst Blue Ribbons in a bucket). Chow down on sassy Smoky Jo's Gumbo, or pit-smoked Italian sausage, beef, pork or turkey sandwiches.
Dish to Die For
Combo platter and bread pudding.
unique – Great food with portions mere humans can not completely consume. Live entertainment that really says what Kansas City is all about. The only draw back is the place is too small to handle the crowds it deserves.
Dead Blues Guys – This IS Kansas City! The blues tradition, the bbq tradition, the hole in the wall club atmosphere! If you don't get to BB's you can never say that you have experienced the roots of Kansas City. The place is closed on Monday and Tuesday and raises the roof the rest of the time. Thursdays the slabs are on sale and JohnPauls Flying Circus runs a jam. Clean your fingers good before you step up to the mic. Great regional and national acts on Fri and Sat.
