Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Since 1998, this Pilates studio and Gyrotonic Studio downtown offers mat and reformer classes, structural integration, private instruction and massage.
Personalized, positive, and results I can feel! – I?ve tried so many different things to get my body to feel as good as I know it can, and no one has been as motivating and supportive as the instructors at Bodies in Balance. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and committed.
After recovering from a hip injury my physical therapist suggested Pilates. I went to a couple of different studios in town before I found Bodies in Balance. Their approach to Pilates is refreshing and personalized. I don?t feel like my instructor is just putting me through my paces, which is how I felt at the other two studios. Instead, I feel like each session is tailored to what my body actually needs.
Pilates is one of the greatest things I could be doing right now. I feel stronger, more flexible, and mentally focused. The ladies at Bodies in Balance are professional and friendly ? I trust them and love the way I feel.
Best Pilates studio in Portland – This is the finest Pilates studio I've been to in Portland. The private lessons are the best your money can buy, and if you're short on cash you can get private lessons from an apprentice - which are almost as good - at a huge discount. Instructors are friendlier here than at other studios somehow, and the wood floors and old world Victorian charm make the place feel cozier than anything else around. I've been doing Pilates for years, and the instructors here seem to be more knowledgable and competent than any others I know of.
Pappadams and Pilates – Two of my favorite things in life. However, I can enjoy neither simultaneously. And it's the first of three reasons why I'm looking for another Pilates studio. Located next to Plainfield's Mayur Restaurant, wafts of Panch Phora break the mind-body connection, diverging thoughts from inhale/exhale to imbibe/devour. Next reason is the third floor mat class studio presents an awkward and restrictive space for groups larger than six people. Expect obscured views to your instructor and exchanging bumps with limbs belonging to your mat class neighbor. And finally if curry and crowded rooms don't deter you, than be prepared to bring your own mat. When I've been instructed to take the flight position (head on the mat, lifting your head slowly, feeling the space btwn your shoulders opening) I find it impossible to ignore the studio provided mats steamy stench of sweaty breath left behind by previous Pilates lovers.
Thank you for your comments.
We've responded by installing a high quality air purifier and most days are barely aware of the restaurant downstairs.
Come to class sometime to smell the difference!
elisa – Great, professional staff. I have been taking private lessons and GROUP REFORMER classes for almost 6 months. Great results. Easy to schedule appointments. My posture has improved and my low back does't hurt any more!!!
current client – Bodies in Balance has helped me to find my core muscles, improve my posture and give my body definition. Very professional and dynamic staff. I prefer my private workouts but hve tried the mat classes- hard to beat the individual attention. Highly reccommend!!!!
