A taste of ITALY!!! Unbeliveable authentic Italian cuisine!!!! – Being from Italy, I grew up on authentic italian cuisine. A friend told me about Babymoon Cafe and how the food was very good, so I decided to give it a try. The food was amazing and the service was great!!! We had the brushetta, spicy grilled shrimp, and veal parmesean. There selection of wine was also very good. It's good to know there are restaurants like Babymoon that steer away from the everyday chain restaurants such as Olive Garden and Maccaroni Grill. The candle lit tables gave the restaurant a remarkable ambience (great place for a date!!!) So long Olive Garden.....hellloooo BABYMOON!!
Terrible food, terrible service, terrible new owner, terrible experience – Nothing about my experience at Baby Moon was enjoyable. I brought my family there for a fun evening away from the house, and it was more stressful than worth the time or money. We were treated poorly (when we even received attention at all- very rare). We waited to sit and waited EVEN longer for our food, yet the place was less than 1/4 full. My daughter found a hair in her pasta, but was not offered a replacement meal or even an apology. Not only did the wait staff treat us poorly, but the you could hear the owner in the back speaking inappropriately to his staff. My family was horrified. There are plenty other Italian restaurants in the area that will be a much better investment of time and money.
great experience! – Under the new ownership, I think the restaurant has improved. I was seated as soon as I walked into the restaurant. the waitress I had was so nice! She knew the menu well and was very good at recommending entrees and wine. I absolutely loved the wine she picked out for me. The food is good price and is very delicious. It is a cute little casual restaurant, good for dates! Oh, and they also have patio seating, which I thought was great.
appalled at owners behavior – I was in the restaurant recently and was absolutely appalled at how the owner was speaking to the employees. I used to really enjoy the time there, and was excited to hear that there were new owners. I had witnessed the old owner screaming at his employees and expected more of the new owners. I was appalled to see the way they were speaking to their employees. I will not be returning and believe me, I have nothing positive to say to any friends about the new owners and the way they are running what used to be my favorite restaurant.
From a Staff Member – As of a couple of weeks ago Babymoon Cafe is now under new ownership. We know there have been a lot of complaints about the quality of our restaurant recently and we have not been satisfied with the way it has been run as well. Upon ownership change the restaurant underwent heavy cleaning and renovation so it could be opened as a brand new restaurant. The new owners are very responsible and are taking care of supplying us with everything we have recently been out of. The restaurant will continue improving to satisfy every kind of guest who walks through the door. We are adding new items to the menu, updating the restaurant inside and out and updating the wine list. We have new computer systems and new equipment. Every problem is being fixed to build confidence in our restaurant again. Our reputation has been destroyed but we plan on building it back again.
Avoid at all costs – VERY slow seating. We waited 15 minutes without being acknowledged. We noticed a number of customers come in, wait a while, then leave.
VERY poor service. Staff seemed untrained and did not know how to speak to customers. There were not enough wait staff, but one of them spent her time cleaning the front door window instead of helping diners.
Wait staff could learn some manners. "So do you want something to drink, huh?".
DIRTY plates. Asked for an extra plate for my child. Received a dirty plate. Did not see a member of staff again during meal to exchange it.
AVERAGE food. Food was average. My veal was slimy and not well seasoned.
STICKY tables. Could do with a good cleaning.
DILAPIDATED interior and furnishing.
I guess the above list puts my families experience into perspective!!!
Pizza restaurant out of cheese – NO STARS......How can a restaurant that specializes in pizza run out of cheese on a Sat evening???? Perhaps a trip to a grocery store in the area would have solved that. They were also out of almost all the wines on the wine list and most desserts, too. After being told we would have to wait for a table (restaurant not even 1/2 full) and more than 50% of what we tried to order not available, we decided this was not meant to be. After 45 minutes of this, the SIX of us decided to eat somewhere else. After several attempts to reach the owner, I have to leave "negative feedback".
A casual restaurant with just average food – Ate at Babymoon for the first time just last night. We were looking for a casual place because we didn't want to get dressed up and Babymoon did fit that bill. It is more like a pizza place, everyone is in jeans and the decor is pretty basic. They had a nice looking patio but the weather was bad so we sat inside. I remembered other reviewers stating that the service was poor so I was kind of expecting it. The girl who sat us had a bad attitude, but our waitress turned out to be very nice. She made several suggestions when we said it was our first visit. The menu is pretty large and the wine list has several selections, but mostly pretty common wines from California. I got their Pasta alla Eric which the waitress recommended because of the sherry cream sauce. However they must have forgotten to put any sauce on mine, because the dish was dry and I definitely could not pick up any richness. The pasta was actually overcooked so it stuck together in a big ball. My husband ordered their pasta with shrimp and andouille sausage. It is supposed to come in a saffron wine sauce, but it actually came out very soupy. The pasta was sitting a big pool of what tasted like broth to me. The only thing that had any flavor in his dish was the sausage. We gave our waitress our opinions when she asked how the food was and she sent us home with a free dessert. Just based on this one visit it would appear their food is pretty bland and you can definitely find better and richer Italian in this area. If they could hire a chef who knows how to use spices I'd probably eat here pretty regularly.
Must have been a rough night... – We took my niece there for her birthday based on the reviews listed here. The service was horrible. Our waiter was very grumpy and unaccomodating. That said 2 of the 3 main courses we ordered were quite good, but the ambiance was severely lacking. The 3rd main course that wasn't ideal, had forgotten a main ingredient on the description and was quite bland (penne vodka) I'm really surprised that it was noted as being both kid friendly and romantic dining. It really wasn't either. The waiter seemed very put out by our asking for a high chair for our toddler (despite calling in advance to request a table for 3 adults and one toddler) In fact, no one on the patio seemed to be enjoying themselves except for us. We have just moved here from San Francisco, so perhaps we have too high a bar coming from an area known for excellent restaurants. But the food really was quite good, we were just shocked to have such terrible service. That said, if you go, they do make a yummy dirty martini!
Hearty Italian fare in a casual setting just minutes from RDU. – In Short
Due to its RTP proximity, this small restaurant is best known as a lunch spot, but Morrisville residents have embraced the large and varied dinner menu as well. Start with the hot antipasto which includes baked clams and stuffed mushrooms. Pasta lovers will appreciate the huge selection of dishes, from simple spaghetti and meatballs to the complex Pasta alla Eric with crab, artichoke, sundried tomatoes and sherry cream. Save room for the rich tirimisu.
