Yeah, not really – OK, don?t get too excited about this place. I fell for the ?best burger in town? a few times. I have visited this place enough to realize that for a lunch price, the burger just doesn?t stand up to the name of ?best?. The burger does have an original bun that adds a twist to the looks and taste. You can get your favorite fixings, but beware of the hefty price. A lunch could cost you in excess of $12, and that includes the tip without a drink. Still a pretty good burger, but just a bit overprices. The service is sketchy. Stay away from the backroom if you can at all help it. The waitress back there came from the show Alice. I think here name is Flo and she has the same antics as the actress. Not quite for me. Don?t be afraid do check it out, but on the same terms, try some other local dive bars also, as they will probably satisfy you just the same or better.
It's amazing, in these trying times, how hard small businesses are working to do a good job, provide value and keep prices in line with our pocket books. Hats off to CityGrille for their continuous efforts to give our community a great place to eat great food and unwind with resonable drink prices. Joining their Hamburger Hat club always proves to be rewarding every month, with great discounts. So, we consumers need to realize the day in and day out work that goes into running a place for over 10 years, and tip our hats off to the positive this restaurant brings to Denver. Thanks CityGrille!
Best mini-burgers around – While no expert on all things food, I do recognize some tasty show when I get down to it. City Grille's mini-burgers (especially when on special, after 10, for $1/burger) are something not to be missed. Generally served slightly bloody, they're pretty much everything you could want from a mini-burger: simple, well-cooked, flavorful, and just a bit greasy.
In the evenings, the bartendress often doubles as waitress and has an upbeat, greasy-spoon-style attitude. They can handle a bar and the drunks that go with it with snappy retorts and quick wit.
The atmosphere is very taverny/neighborhood bar or hangout. Just simple, unpretentious, and comfortable. If you're looking for a seen and be-seen kind of place, it probably isn't for you. If you're lucky for a place to kick back with a beer and some good, simple eats, you'll be doing yourself a favor stopping in at the City Grille.
Dinner service stops at 9:00 – The service at this place has always been a 2 on a scale of 10. I was once again crushed tonight when I tried to order take out and was told at 9pm they already went on the late night menu.
The burgers are overpriced, but tasty so I can justify $10 for a burger
The beers are overpriced, but you need beer with a burger. Not justified but good business I guess.
The service is horrible, nothing can justify that. I will only order food there on take out, and well I guess I cant even do that at a resonable hour (9:00 is not THAT late, come on!)
$3.50 PBR are you kidding me? – our waiter was super cool. The food was good. I had been looking forward to having one of their burgers for quite some time. I actually brought a group of 10 people out to give them a try for my birthday dinner. $3.50 for a PBR. that's like charging for ice. I understand the price of the PBR if you are in downtown LA on on the strip in Vegas. Beautiful Colfax ave does not warrant a $3.50 PBR.
We will not return.
Worst Service!!! Got Scammed by the waitress! – 3 of my coworkers and I took one of our coworkers to lunch. We had the most awful service that I have ever received at a restaurant. The waitress that we had gave us extremely poor service, but to top it all off for us was that she actually had the nerve to add gratuity to our bill! Our bill said that there were 10 people dining when she brought it to us, which I understand would usually mean that gratuity is automatically added. However, there were only 5 of us there! She also added 5 drinks on our bill when we only had 3 drinks (2 of us had water.) If you go to the City Grille and get Melinda as a waitress, get up and leave or ask to sit in another section. She will try and scam you!
One of our coworkers had to order early before the birthday girl got there. She ordered her lunch, received it, and was almost done eating it before the waitress came back to take the rest of our orders. She never returned to fill our drinks, ask how we were, etc. By the time we were ready to leave, she would not bring us our bill so we could pay. When we finally flagged her down to pay for the bill, and she brought it to us we saw that she had added extra drinks to it and her gratuity which she did not deserve! We asked if she could split out the bill, or at least put each of our meals on our individual credit cards. She got really rude with us and said she couldn't do that that she would need to exactly how much to put on each credit card! She made things very difficult for us and we had to sit there for 20 minutes figuring out what everyone owed with the automatic gratuity the waitress put on the bill, plus everyone was paying in different ways and different amounts. The whole thing was extremely frustrating! We felt extremely scammed when we walked out of there.
My standby! – Seriously great burgers. Entrees like fish'n'chip and mac'n'cheese are also super. CityGrille's turkey burger is super-tasty, with it's sage mayo. Make sure you get the fries with green chili and cheese! This is my default restaurant!
Wish I could give negative stars – Poor service is an understatement. Can not really comment on the decor only saw a corner that is completely shielded from everything but the Women's room and the waitress hangout. So I can say our table felt like a punishment. We were not their kind of people apparently. It had peeling paint and dusty mouldings. There were other tables open. Then we sat with finished plates pushed to the edge of the table and no one wanted to be bothered by us. The "hostess" rolled her eyes everytime she glanced at us. We finally got up and asked for the check. If the food was great I would say it was worth it but it was a good burger but BEST - not even close. Fries were fair. And this is what to look forward to after trying to find a parking place if you are not in the area to just walk in. What a waste of a star. This is the first time I have ever done a bad review. It is not a pleasant experiance but neither was this restaurant.
Poor service, okay burgers, terrible fries – I don't see what the big deal is about City Grille. I don't want to go back. The burger is okay, but it's not heavenly like everyone says. I have been here several times and the wait staff seem to have better things to do than wait on you. And they're rude (all girls) and you have to listen to them gripe about everything under the sun with the other girls. Every time I've been there, without fail. The fries are thin and I would believe it if they were frozen.
BUFFALO and More – This is one of Food Snobs favorite Buffalo Burgers. David and Rich know how its done. For you suburbanites, dont let the location of this cool little spot scare you away. GO GO GO to honor Tatonka with cheese. and ...... the daily specials are great too.
Still the best burger in town...if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. Don't judge it by the decor...they're not a trendy $20 burger joint...just good cheap burgers that are still the best in town.
