Avoid the "Hallibut" and Gumbo – The Gumbo tasted like it came out of a can. The "hallibut" as they called it is nothing more than fish-sticks.
Just not quite... – Not the best. I'd give this place a 6 out of 10; a little better than average - but then again I do have high standards. The initial greeting was delayed and unfriendly; we seemed to be an inconveinience, despite the fact that the resturant was nearly empty. The fish tacos were fair, nice flavor. Stale chips and expensive drinks! No refills on strawberry lemonade! The food was overly greasy. Not many healthy options. I don't think i'll visit again.
I LOVE it... – I have been going to Greenlake Bar and Grill for years and it is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is chill, the management is super friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. I pretty much exclusively order the burgers, it is my favorite. And the happy hour, like everyone says, is the best deal in town. Just make sure you walk there instead of driving, because they do not skimp on the alcohol!
Good...Not Great – We love to walk around green lake and had been told that they have a great happy hour. The place is in a perfect location and has a nice outdoor area. The inside however smelled like a diner. Greece and other unpleasent smells. Perhaps the vent system was down that day... I dont know. I would go back again for the GREAT HAPPY HOUR, but I would sit outside!
Love the environment – As soon as you walk into this place, you know you've made the right decision. The beer selection is good although the mixed drinks are a little expensive. The food is hit or miss. The Italian dish I had was greasy, but the nachos were perfect.
A refreshing, creative menu and warm atmosphere distinguish Green Lake's charming neighborhood bar. – The Scene
The regulars come here because they're not looking for dart boards, pull tabs or smoky air. The small bar and larger dining room have art lining the walls and flowers on the cozy tables. The resulting atmosphere is more "casual date" than after-work watering hole, but is fine for both. Servers are pleasant and willing to make recommendations about the food and neighborhood.
Good, shareable dishes include a steak salad with blue cheese that's as tasty as it is giant, and a delightful spinach, mushroom and cheese quesadilla on whole-wheat pita. Burgers are charbroiled and served with near-perfect shoestring fries, and pork chops with cabbage and buttery spaetzle are hot and hearty. More ambitious dishes, including a not-so-spicy penne, are decent, but fail to make a flavorful impression.
Really liked the place until now – The service was horrible. I ordered my favorite grilled chicken club, but requested not to have french fries. The server asked me if I wanted a salad and I said no thanks. She never mentioned that the salad was a replacement for the fries or that the sandwich would still cost the same with or without the fries. I have no problem paying full price for the sandwich, but it's only polite to tell you that it will be full price no matter what you omit. I was pretty upset when I got the bill and found that my chicken club with no fries, no salad, just a sandwich, cost $9.78. When I questioned the bill, she said, "There are no price reductions if you don't get fries. That's why I offered you a salad." She never made that clear until I got the bill.
mmmm.... – Perhaps I am not the most picky person on the planet when it comes to rating restaurants but I highly enjoyed my lunch on Saturday. The wait was minimal, the attention paid to us was excellent, and they were quite generous with the alcohol! It's margarita season and this was one of the first 'ritas to taste authentic. My boyfriend and I both ordered the fish and chips and we thought they were excellent. His only complaint was the barbeque sauce (for dipping his fries) was not spicy enough. Oh well. The bathrooms are made for one person, so if the door won't open when you try the handle, it's because someone else is using it! Overall, it was good. The atmosphere was light and friendly, the view was excellent, and we shall return!
Just OK – The food portions are not large and not very good. The beer is cold and service is fine. It's a cool, casual place, ideal for a meal and nice conversation but just don't have your expectations too high for the food.
The jambalaya in particular would be an absolute joke in New Orleans. The key lime pie I swear was from Trader Joe's and I am not joking.
Yummy!! – This place is GREAT!! I finally tried it and I go all the time now. Everyone I take to Greenlake Bar & Grill loves it. Great Pork sandwiches and Steak & Blue Cheese salad. Good for adults alone or with kids. The bloody marys rock!!
