I love Peet's Coffee. I don't drink caffeine any more but I won't buy it at the more popular coffee shop. Pete's doesn't have that nasty burned bean taste. It's still a little strong for me but it's drinkable. Their decaf tea selection and the baristas are excellent and knowledgeable about their products. It's a nice relaxing place to sit before going to the Edgemar across the courtyard. And if I want to work, the internet access is free and easy to use.
Wow. I'll admit, I have shyed away from here just because it kind of looked a little corporate coffee-ee. Well, whatever it is, they serve up good coffee and awesome customer service. I'll warn you, not a lot of electical outlets here- when I asked about plugging in my laptop, the staff here went on a mission. When they were all taken, they offered an extension cord from the back bar. They said we could move tables. There happened to be an empty table near said back bar, but when the extension cord and my laptop didn't work, the staff climbed under the counter to see if they could make the cord stretch. It did. Viola.
The barista on staff was great- double-checked with me if my in-house coffee size was okay, if I didn't like my milk choice, let her know and she would redo, the works.
Apologized to ME because of the weird tipping- can't tip on a credit card. She apologized that they did not have a workable system on a credit card.
I am impressed.
I hope I see this staff again. Very customer oriented. Very rare to get this level of interest in most coffee places!
Coffee Fuel... – Peet's is by far the strongest coffee I've ever had. No foo-foo drinks here. Everytime I have a drink I feel buzzed the rest of the day. I don't get this with the other coffee chains. Personally, I prefer my coffee to be on the sweeter side but they're vanilla latte is really good. Also, when substituting soy for milk, the drink tastes really good which I can't say for the competition. They also have a selection of vegan cookies which are delicious. They have the best ambience because they play classical music that easily falls into the background for studying and reading. Overall, the atmosphere feels really relaxed and this I like.
Even post-IPO, Peet's celebrates its bohemian upbringing with dark-roast beans. – The Scene
Since its Berkeley beginnings in 1966, this chain has swapped its beatnik spirit for corporate glory. Cool flagstone floors and rich mahogany-colored paneling make for a sleek stop, but not a haunt in which to linger. Once the den of intellectuals and fringe artists, Peet's went IPO in early 2001 and is now frequented almost exclusively by people who want the conveniences of a franchised coffeehouse without having to succomb to Starbucks world domination.
Robust without being overbearing, strong but not bitter, Peet's "deep roast" beans make for a fine cup of joe. Straight up or in a latte, its dark, full-bodied character carries through. Hungry? You can always nab a blueberry muffin or an orange scone, but why not opt for one of the fine French pastries? Almond creme croissants, buttery apricot bars or eggy pain creme fraiche studded with fresh blueberries pair well with the brews.
The best chain coffee house – Of all the chains, this one is the best. They brew the coffee every 10 or 15 minutes.
What an experience! – It smells amazing from blocks away! The people who work there actually know about coffee, where it originates, level of acidity etc. . . The tea is great too.
THE BEST – Now that's a good cup of coffee!! Everything else pales in comparison. Good cheese twists (among other yummy baked goods) too!
A gem – Quality outstanding. Great customer service. Delicious pastries blows away competion.
Way better the Strbcks and bean! – was a true starbucks fan, but then tried pete's and it's not even in the same league. pete's is way more flavorful(almost chocolatey) and rich in flavor...so sorry strbucks, it's all about pete's now!
