The impressive collections of this small Harvard-affiliated museum cover the sweep of the last millennium of Western art. – The Scene
The Fogg was built in 1927 around a central courtyard adapted from a 16th century Italian church. The museum is small, and collections rotate frequently, making it a good bet for repeat visits. Guided tours are offered Monday through Friday at 11am. From the second floor you can enter the Busch-Reisinger Museum with its striking German expressionist paintings.
Good examples of Gothic religious art grace the lower courtyard, and Renaissance paintings line the spiraling marble staircase. Second-level galleries have deep holdings in French art from Ingres to the impressionists, old master prints and drawings, decorative arts, and American and English silver.
In the backyard of the smart – Small, guiet and wonderful....visit the Fogg for the courtyard and the ambience
