Best food in town – Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood.
The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you.
The appetizers are delicious.
Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance.
Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived
Nice Sushi Chef – Won't go terribly wrong here.
Music is loud, just expect it.
Food is OK. Expect nothing amazing. However, there is a simple reason to go, have a nice conversation with the guy making your sushi. There are several dudes behind the counter who are reasonably able to slap fish on rice or jimmy up a handroll. Lave those manos please before making my food though, please.
I think I may have seen one of them skip out from the washroom w/o a real serious washing down with hot water. I'm not kidding, it was a fast dash w/o soap, but luckily it was a number one not number two, but still... Dude you gotta be more serious about that.
The fact of the matter is if you're a real dude, you might not care too much about that kind of stuff. I mean, I've eaten lots of stuff off the kitchen table and even I know a time when you're camping or something where you don't really wash up all that great all the time and it's fine. You just don't want to see it at a place where you expect a bit more care should be taken. Nuff said.
GARBAGE – Seemed like it would be a great place to take a date. I was completely wrong!! the service was horrible and they are all sticklers there. I felt like they kept trying to get an extra dollar out of me. I like to spend money at dinner but when someone is hassling me to order another plate when i am completely satisfied it can get annoying. The next morning my girlfriend also did not feel well at all, similar to another review I read. After reading the other review I thought to myself hmmm this might be an recurring thing. I would rather not take the risk to find out. OVER ALL I DO NOT RECOMMEND TENGU TO ANYONE AFTER A GOOD SUSHI DATE. Although I must say I liked the atmosphere.
Sick like never before....Horrible Customer Service – My girl and I went to try this place out. The food and the atmosphere look great at first, but not so great the next day.. Both her and I were so sick the next day. I have never felt like this before ever from sushi. We spent around $100 which is pricey but whatever so we called the manager. During the weekend , this pace doesnt even answer the phone, not even to take a reservation.. So we called again and finally, Mike the manager, called us back the next day,... This was the worst customer service I have ever seen, He told me liek he was right and the customer was wrong. He then proceeded to tell me that if i got sick then everyone esle there should have gotten sick as well. Well that would be great if the place was even full. There was like a couple people in there when we went there. So needless to say i will never go back to this place!! Overpriced and horrible customer service... You want good sushi for a better price with the best view of LA... go to Yamashiro
Tengu, The Best Sushi Hot Spot In All Of L.A – If you're looking for a sushi hot spot in Los Angeles, with all of the emotions such as temptation, feasting, elegance, and a plate full of sushi, Tengu is the spot for you. When I first took a step into this Japaneese Cuisine, the atmosphere was very friendly and home-welcoming. The staff is very curtious in every type of manner and they make you feel delightful. Inside was calming, and sensual and you feel invited right when you wak in. My personal favorite Sake at Tengu is the Signature House- Infused Sake, which is the pineapple Sake, with fresh Maui pineapples. If you're looking for a taset of fruity, delectable sake, this is the type I would suggest. If you love a variety of different types of sushi roll then Tengu will be the spot for you. I wouldn't have this sushi spot any other way in any other part of Los Angeles
Sushi King! – The atmosphere from the first moment you walk in feels like your in japan. The staff greets you in a nice and friendly manner. The plates are proportionate and the quality of food is excellent. I will defiantly be going back. Best sushi I have had in LA, hands down.
Excellent Sushi and Sake! – First attracted by their offer of half of sake, I soon found many more reasons to stay. The lounge was energized and hip, with delicious drinks all around (especially the pineapple sake). The dining room, however, offered sushi house serenity. The food was delicious, and the waiters polite. The balance of elements at Tengu made for a most pleasant evening.
Hands down the best sushi in LA!! – Hands down the best sushi in LA. This place knocks Nobu, Koi and Katsuya completely out of the game. Everything was perfect: the food was superb and the waitress who served us was so incredibly sweet, great service! Event the music was good.
The GM, Mike also came over and offered us a sampling of Tengu?s pineapple infused sake. It was delicious! And because it was Sunday, all of their sake is ? off (5:30 PM to Close). We ended up order two bottles of it. We will definitely be coming back here again!
TEngu Westwood featuring Josh- the best damn sushi chef. – Josh is the best Sushi Chef there is. Most Awesome creative sushi genius ever. I had an experience of oral ecstasy, I'm addicted, it doesn't matter what he makes... all of a sudden it's my favorite thing to eat. The atmosphere is wonderful... the music, the people, and on top of that the food stands alone as the best sushi ever. Yummmmmmmmmmm
Excellent Sushi! Excellent Ambiance – Absolutely love this restaurant. I've been a regular for some time now, but had an exceptionally good experience just last week when I went there on a date! From the moment you step in, you are met with great ambiance, very modern decor, and an extremely attractive wait staff. The menu is comprehensive and has something for everyone: I love the subarashi roll!! If you want creative rolls this is the place to go....They also have a full bar which makes Tengu a great place to spend the evening. It is great to have an upscale sushi option in Santa Monica!
