Actually one of my favorite parks – I was really surprised with how much fun this park actually was. It's true, there are trees and animals everywhere, especially different types of birds, which is really cool. And with the tropical Florida weather, you can almost envision yourself in some type of jungle. There aren't many big rides, but they are very fun. Even more fun than the main attraction that they have there, the safari. It's really interesting, but it's kind of difficult to see the animals since they were sleeping when I went on. My favorite ride was the "Dinosaur" ride. I honestly thought it was just going to be a slow car ride going through a museum, but it was terrifying (to me, at least) and very fast-paced. I was definitely surprised. If you're thinking of missing this park during your stay at Disneyworld, change your mind! It really is entertaining.

Much better than going to the zoo! – Where else can you get animals, rides, shows, good food and the Disney charm?! Although Animal Kingdom does not have AS many attractions as the other WDW parks, it is the newest so that is to be expected. The Imagineers should be commended on this park. It is probably the most visually creative of them all. Everything has so much detail to it, from the walkways that look like mud with leaves embedded in it, to the authentic African buildings that house the eateries and restrooms, etc. That attention to detail is what sets Disney so far ahead of the rest. The safari is great and it is nice how you can not see how the animals are kept in their respective areas. The Kali River Rapids is so much fun we usually ride it atleast 5 times. Wear a poncho if you do not want to be soaked because you will get VERY wet!! I rate this a must see while at Disney.

This prehistoric thrasher gets up close and personal with some frightening monsters. – The Experience
Visitors enter a giant museum lobby filled with enormous--and creepy--dinosaur skeletons. Dim lighting and ominous music create an air of uncertainty. Then, after a quick "briefing," you board the car and come face-to-face with the carnivorous monsters. Thanks to some nifty maneuvering by your unseen driver, you always manage to whip out of the way just in the nick of time. When a meteor shower begins to rain down, however, things become even hairier. The dino encounters are both amazing and terrifying, and the fast movement of the ride makes for some genuine (and constant) thrills. One warning: This ride is much too frightening for small children.

The Wait
Vicious. Pick up a Fastpass or plan to devote about an hour to waiting in line.

A Whole New World – This was our 3rd trip to Animal Kingdom and we are looking forward to going back again! Sure there aren't that many rides but the ones they have are worth it - especially the Safari and the Kali River Rapids.

This isn't an amusement park but a true 'theme park'. The shows are excellent, especially Tarzan Rocks - sure to thrill young and old. Where else can you see roller-blading 'apes'. The arial work was astounding.

You can spend an hour just wandering around the base of the 'Tree of Life' spotting the carved animals.

Suggestion: Get there early (1/2 hour before opening) and get on the rides you want then spend a few hours soaking up the atmosphere.

Best Overall Park? – I was glad we finally got to go to Animal Kingdom, after numerous trips to Orlando without seeing it. While the rides here are somewhat lacking, you can see lots of animals! There is also a ton of shade which most Orlando parks do not have enough of. There are trees everywhere! It is a great place to learn and interact.

The downside, as with most Disney parks, is the price. $50+ tickets, $7 parking (where else do you pay so much for the privelege of spending more money). The other thing that bugged me was all the harping they do on conservation, while serving lunch on plastic plates with plastic utensils.

Sunshine – The Dinosaur ride is one of the best roller coasters that I have ever ridden. Animal kingdom is a wonderful place for kids.

Dark Kingdom – Could be a very good ride, but it is so dark inside that I could not see but very little of what there was to see. Ride broke down the first time we rode and we had to walk out( June 2000) ,The lights were on and we could see that there was a lot more to see. I think the ride would be much more interesting if there was a little more visibility.
