Best in SA – This will probably be my only review for any restaurant on the site. Never mind the negative reviews, Mexican Manhattan is amazing. The food is delicious, and I'm so picky, and extremely critical with Mexican food. I've been going regularly since I was a baby, and my mother has since she was, too. It's a family favorite. The enchiladas are the best in town, chili con queso is the BEST way to start off a meal, wonderful salsa, and even the iced tea is great. The inside may not be too fancy, but the food definitely makes up for it, and the relatively new outdoor, riverside dining is awesome. The waiters/waitresses are extremely friendly, and are always accurate with orders. I'd have to say the biggest con would be parking. Depending on what day it is, or what time, it's sometimes hard to find good parking on the street.
reasonable prices, prompt service, fresh food – My mom has been going to this place for years-and ever time we visit S.A. we have to eat here-The fresh corn tortillas served piping hot are an excellent way to start a meal or try the fresh nachos and salsa. Make sure that you have fasted well before visiting this place because the portions are huge. The restaurant has undergone many physical changes in the last decade such as the addition of the outside seating area overlooking the Riverwalk canal ( a great plus), but a few things has remained the same the consistency of food and the great service.
Great somewhat hidden riverwalk restaurant – This hidden jewel is an overlooked riverwalk eatery. The restaurant and bar are awesome, but MAKE CERTAIN YOU EAT OUTSIDE on the balcony over the river. Inside is like any Jalisco Taqueria in SA, but outside is very nice. Food is good and cheap.
the best Cabritto – I was walking down the riverwalk an my nose led me up some stairs to a very nice patteo and into the bar. The barstaff was very friendly and willing to help me find something to drink with my oe requested ingrediant. I had my dinner out on the patio overlooking the beautiful river, during December. They had these hudge heaters that they brought to the tables with patrons. The service was prompt and conversatinal. I ordered the cabritto (goat) and and an enchilada. The cabritto was the best I ever had! The salsa wasn't spicy but yet was very addicting.
Overrated - Good Service – This is an overrated place. Do not eat the guacamole tacos unless you really love guac mixed with nothing. Service was okay; ambiance is not that great unless you eat outside.
Best Mexican Food in S.A. – This has been a favorite of mine since the early 90's. I have always recieved great service. The food is absolutely delicious. MY favorite is the cheese enchiladas. If you haven't tried it... your missing out!
Deeeelicious!! – Mexican Manhattan's best plate is the Manhattan Royal, but don't order it if you're not too hungry. One thing you have to try is the Chile con queso, it is finger licking good! The best place to sit is outside on the patio.
The Best In Town – Mexican Manhattan is the best Mexican food in town. The food is cooked fresh and served hot! If you like canned beans or rice from an instant box don't visit this place. Fresh corn and flour tortillas are great. The wait staff is very polite and are quick to please. The atmosphere is good for all types. Prices are very affordable. Don't miss the free buffet during happy hour. Don't let the negative critques fool you.
Big place, almost-as-big plates. – The Scene
If you enter Mexican Manhattan from the street don't be fooled into thinking it's another small Mexican eatery--it's huge. The small, front, booth-filled dining room opens onto another larger dining room, but don't stop there. Follow through to the bar, a beautiful high-ceiling room with exposed brick, grand patios, a view of the Riverwalk and one of the better Bloody Marys made in the city. The friendly and knowledgeable bar staff is only too eager to make certain that your drink matches your expectations and that vegetarians get a choice other than bean and cheese nachos.
While the food may not be the best Mexican food in San Antonio, the portions are huge. The Manhattan Royal includes a beef taco as big as a skyscraper, an enchilada, a chili-covered tamale, avocado salad, and beans and rice--definitely a two-plate entree.
The Very Best Food – When these guys say "The Mexican Manhattan has the very best mexican food in San Antonio," they mean it. Their food is excellent. The environment is geat and the people will do anything to make your meal mre enjoyable. Two thumbs up!!
