Stay away! – Portions insultingly small, particularly the salad. Salmon presented as two luke-warm postage-stamp sized square pieces, served upside down (skin on top). Noise level was incredibly high, requiring us to shout across the table in order to carry on a conversation. Bread was served as if something special, but really quite ordinary. Prices outrageous for the amount of food delivered. A terrible and expensive experience. Never again!
Absolutlely Horrible! – I went to this restaurant with 9 of my friends and had the worst meal of any place in Philadelphia. The service was so slow that the table couldn't even enjoy the conversation because we were all so hungry. Then, when the food finally arrived half of the table's food was cold. The waiter then returned the entrees to the kitchen and everyone's meal that was reheated was overcooked. The management was then rude when we nicely mentioned the fact! On top of that, the desserts were horrible! The crepes were like baby food filled plastic and the creme brulee was burnt with NO consistency. I would NEVER return here. Beware if you decide on this "restaurant."
Not for me – The small amount of food served here was really outragous. I am all for quality over quantity and I know to expect this in many French establishments. I actually felt ripped off. I was here about a year and a half ago and really liked it. But meals have downsized since then. I should have paid more attention to the other postings before going. So if you like a romantic little hideaway BYO with EXTREMELY small well prepared portions and good service you will like this. But for the money it was not for me. Never again, not recommended.
Imaginative Cooking – A new chef- a new menu- many new dishes- . The Calves liver with mixed onion dish was the best liver meal we have had in any restaurant. Great quality, perfectly cooked and the onion accompanyment was perfect. A beef tartare dish was perfectly spiced and the Lamb dish was excellent, with lots of different flavors added .The new menu has many interesting choices and we plan to return soon.
A Change for the Better! – Something must really have changed for the better since these recent bad reviews. We're glad we didn't disregard this restaurant. It was fabulous! The servers were extremely helpful and attentive. Ours suggested the warm artichoke puree and sweet potato soup for appetizers, which were both excellent! We had Chicken Pantine and Leek Flan for entrees and both were mouth watering and of generous portions. Dessert followed with a delicious caramelized apple dish topped with pastry and sorbetto. Everything was so great that we were compelled to meet the chef who graciously came to our table. We are not sure how long he has been here but maybe this is the secret to the turnaround. We overheard other patrons mention that the meal was fabulous as usual so maybe this is a neighborhood secret that we shouldn't be revealing... sorry!
Don't bother – I called up to change my reservations and checked to make sure that everything was allright. And then called back and checked again. We showed up at 9:30 Pm for our reservation and the manager pretended like he had no idea about anything, and said that we didn't have reservations. So we left, hungry. I suggest that you don't go to this place. The service is terrible and so was the ambience. Teh one time we ate there, we thought the food was average.
What a rip off! – Mediocre at best! Grilled calamari appetizer was in fact breaded and fried and way too salty. We ordered the same salad and one portion had tons of bacon in it, the other portion barely had a few bits. The desserts were half decent although crème brule was extremely sweet. When the restaurant filled up with people, the air conditioning became completely inadequate. The prices were outrageous and overall price to food value was just poor. If they don't fire the chef - just don't go!
Had high hopes, but was disappointed. – Good bread? One marvelous roll among several mediocre ones, but only one was found. Waitress recommended steak frites, but it was just plain steak I could get elsewhere. Garlic mayonnaise sauce seemed more like mayo with a little garlic flavor rather than "sauce." My wife had Moroccan beef stew, which was very good--highly recommended! French onion soup was "sweet;" a strange flavor--stay away. Server reported being unsure about some of the specials but never checked back. I agree with some that it is too expensive for the quality, service, or decor.
Great Food – The food was excellent as well as the service. It is small with little room but it still has a wonderful atmosphere. I had the seabass it was out of this world. My wife had the salmon and she loved it.
Great Bistro (but at Fine Dining Prices) – I absolutely enjoyed everything both I (and my date) had at this restaurant. I'm a huge fan of quality food in a relaxed atmosphere. I'd like to imagine that I could get simple yet very appealing food (such as what is served here) daily. However the prices make that impossible. Virtually everything on the menu should have been (in my opinion) 25% cheaper. I must however reemphasize that the food epitomized bistro; (quick, efficient, simple and satisfying) and I'd gladly go again.
