Heart day.... – My husband and I went to Au Bon Appetit for Valentines day this year, and the service was excellent. We were a little dissapointed with the limited holiday menu. My husband loves a good filet mignon, and there was no red meat on the menu (except for the duck). The duck was well prepared and had a delicious pan sauce on it. My husbands roasted chicken was very ordinary, and we felt that at $18 a plate it should have been much more than ordinary. The melon and prociutto salad and fried oysters were very good. The star of the night was the chocolate molten cake. I have NEVER eaten such a delicious chocolate confection in my life!!
Bon Appetit – I stumbled into Au Bon Appeit when I decided to skip the long wait at a neighboring restaurant (Market Street.) I was delighted by the atmosphere and the attentive staff, and absolutely mesmerized by the meal. This restaurant is a rare beauty lost among the chain restaurants and unimaginative menus of Salt Lake.
In true Parisian style, this cafe serves classic bistro fare in an informal, welcoming atmosphere. – The Scene
Owners Kristian and Frederic Peyrin bring a successful formula for a pleasurable evening on the town: Kristian graciously welcomes patrons, while brother Frederic sends out classic bistro fare from the kitchen. Brightly colored walls and white linen settings add to the atmosphere. The style is warm and inviting, with Parisian street signs on the walls and cozy nooks.
Daily specials complement the core menu of salads, crepes and entrees. Steak frites and roasted free-range chicken with garlic mashed potatoes are among the hearty choices, with duck confit, cassoulet and brandade as revolving specials. For a delicious change of pace, try the seafood crepes. Desserts, like the lemon tart or white-chocolate mousse cake, are deliciously nuanced. The wine list offers suitable choices, mainly French and Californian.
on the positive side – It is a nice place eat. The soups and appetizers were great; however, the main dishes were not that impressive. Especially the rice that comes with entrees. The service was good. Also, although the tables are separated which is a good thing, the decor of the room does not help for the overall atmosphere. Overall, I am not sure this place is better than L'avenue.
Good enough for anywhere – This is one of a few places (although there are more now than ever) in Utah that could make it in a big city like Manhattan or San Francisco. It is high in quality throughout and comfortable and unpretentious. Parking on Market Street is the only problem.
Delicious sauces, perfect portions – Although the service has ranged from mediocre to excellent, the food has always been wonderful each time. Get a table by the window for the best seating. The food here is not to be missed. It isn't over priced either.
Good downtown french – Good french food - as good as any in SLC but without the inflated price. Traditional french dishes, but some simple stuff too that will satisfy picky eaters. Only complaint - we got there just after opening. There were 3 three parties in the entire place and they sat us right next to each other. Awsome deserts.....GREAT creme brule.
On the streets of Paris – The food was excellent, though the music was a bit raucous. It has the atmosphere of a typical small restaurant along the streets of Paris
excellent! – The food and the service are just EXCELLENT!!!!
I was in a business trip and just went to the same restaurant every day. Excellent and no expensive.
Great Authentic Desserts – Great food. The desserts were to die for. I had a small baked Alaska that had honey ice-cream, and raspberry something on the bottom, with baked meringue. I have been to France a few times and the desserts live up to the French standard of cooking. It was incredible. The waiter was very helpful and the service was perfect.
