Best Brunch in Atlanta – Being in the Kirkwood neighborhood, we have been a big supporter of Sun in my Belly in good times and bad. We are so pleased they have improved their customer service over the last year. Our favorite thing about them is and always has been, of course, the food. While they are out of things from time to time, everything is always, fresh, fresh, fresh. The brunch is absolutely amazing although on the weekends you'll probably wait but usually no more than 10min. The staff and owners actually take the time to get to know you and I've seen the owners personally wait on tables/customers, which is unheard of in the restaurant industry. Kudos, Sun in my Belly for weathering the storm.
Heavy food dripping in butter and oil, horrible rude service – We went here upon the recommendation of several people, and we were more than disappointed. First, the service is absolutely abysmal -- our waitress couldn't be bothered to re-fill our coffee or water and she scoffed at us when we asked if she had any vegetarian-friendly sausage options. She actually mockingly said, "no, there's nothing healthy like that here."
Not only was menu was also lacking in fresh, healthy options, it was also devoid of breakfast standards -- no pancakes, no eggs benedict. The french toast was laden with ricotta cheese and was bland. The "fresh" fruit bowl was dripping with sugary syrup -- not really my definition of "fresh fruit." The eggs were oily and runny, and presentation was sub par. The only redeeming quality was the latte.
I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Flying Biscuit is far better.
Best Chicken Sandwich EVER – This place is amazing. I live in New York, where they claim to have some of the best food in the world, but the meals I've had at Sun in my Belly are far superior to most of the things I've eaten at home. They make this incredible grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia that is just delicious, everything is comlimented with great side dishes, like mac and cheese, and fanstastic coffee (and I'm picky about coffee!). All of their breakfast/brunch food is superb as well, the egg sandwich with bacon is mighty tasty. I would suggest this place to anyone eating in Atlanta.
Editorial Review – Kirkwood eatery delights with sandwiches and seasonal meals in a renovated hardware store.
Excellent food; Worse than average customer service – Best Breakfast in town! But don't go unless you've got time to waste and aren't bothered by snippy waitstaff...
Best Brunch! – If you like great food and a great atmosphere at great prices, check out Sun in My Belly...they fill a void in the Kirkwood area and offer a great brunch! Located in the historic Bailey's Hardware building on College Ave, I've been many times and will continue to return!
