not a great place for a fine restaurant to last. don't even know why the owners chose the area to do business

Anam. LOVE the food. At the time they didn't have a liquor license, so we brought our own (I believe they do now, call to check). Very tight (parking and seating). Again, food is great.

doesn't live up to reputation. Annam is a very intimate restaurant; beautifully decorated and not overdone. We went there on a Saturday night, it wasn't busy so despite the small space it was just right. We had the spring rolls and the crispy rolls to start...nothing amazing to be noted, I would say it was average. We had the pho; it was a very tasty broth-I will credit that :) The condiments however were watered-down (hot sauce and hoison sauce)!! We also ordered the Vietnamese curry which was very...BORING!! It had no taste what-so-ever and the serving was pretty small however had lots of broth...it looked like a soup, a very bland soup!! Totally dissapointed with that dish. We also had the pork chops, which was tasty, however there was excess sauce/gravy smoothered on top that almost looked like bar-b-que sauce. I've had this dish @ many other places and haven't had any w/sauce on top! ??? Also, unlike the other places, the dish wasn't served with the salad OR sweet fish sauce dressing..boohoo!!! The waiter informed us that the kitchen was out of chicken for our 5 spice chicken and we said it was fine and didn't want to order another dish. However, 20 minutes later, he comes out with the 5 spice chicken dish, plops it on our table, states "oh we did have the chicken and they made it anyway".... we didn't even it want anymore but whatever!!! That was pretty rude!! and yes, we were charged full price for it... ??? last but not least, we sipped on the fruit drink which was basically mango juice from a carton, so not worth the $2.50. hahahaa :) so, we spent about $90...overall, its a nice place however the food is not as great as i thought it would be. that was my first and last time. :) if you want some REAL VIETNAMESE FOOD NOT COVERED UP BY FANCY MENUS, FANCY DECOR, "FRENCH FLARE", etc, etc, HEAD TO AREAS LIKE MAIDISON HEIGHTS AROUND JOHN R, DEQUINDRE & 12 MILE!! THE AREA IS FLOODED WITH VIETNAMESE RESTAURANTS. THEY MAY NOT BE AS "UPSCALE" HOWEVER YOU'LL GET REAL VIETNAMESE FOOD !!! :)

Waste of time and Money!. For lunch, my coworker and I decided to have Pho (a common vietnamese specialty: rice noodle soup that comes with the noodles and broth. You add everything else yourself.) Normally what would take us 10 minutes to get anywhere else, it took over an hour. The prices were as ridiculous as the wait. The usual 6.50 bowl of soup was 10.00 and lacked all the ingredients authentic Pho comes with). The servers kept insisting it was on its way out and blamed the 4 cooks in the back. So to pacify us, they brought out soup spoons???

Over an hour for SOUP! We finally decided to leave. We only had an hour for lunch...and we had gone over that already.

The ambience was overdone. The tables were too crammed together. And if you are going to dine there, bring a lint roller, the napkins and table cloths will leave so much lint on you.

I can't comment on the quality of the food since I did not get my food at all. But from the menu...its not authentic at all.

Sorry --going to a REAL vietnamese restaurant next time.

Maybe I don't understand Vietnamese cuisine. Lunch started off well: great atmosphere--calm, soothing decor. Elegant, even. We were served an excellent fish broth with vegetables while we read the menu. The crispy rolls with tamarind sauce were good, but subtle. AHA! Subtle seems to be the Magic Word, as the rest of the meal was....very, very subtle. I split the curried seafood and marinated chicken entrees with a friend. The curry was.....subtle to the point of being bland, but there were several mussels, small bits of squid, a few shrimp (good flavor there!) and fish ball-a round, gelatinous thing. The marinated chicken was tasty and moist but the vermicelli was stuck together in a glop. Maybe the food is supposed to be subtle, so if you want to try Annam, don't expect gang-buster flavors.

Sophisticated atmosphere and entrees are the norm at this Far Eastern find.. In Short
A perfect mix of sophistication and the exotic, soft yellow hues and walnut accents create a romantic interior. The decibel level is at a minimum, so you can appreciate both your meal and your conversation. Vietnamese cuisine is infused with spices such as mint, lemon grass and cilantro, not dependent on heavy sauces like Thai or Chinese. The lightness pleases both adventurous and timid diners.

great if you want to pay just for the service. This was a disappointing experience for me as I venture around the city looking for good vietnamese food. In my experience, when a Vietnamese restaurant spend so much on the decoration, the food always is lacking. This time, it was true once again. Great service but horrible food. you can't call yourself a vietnamese restaurant and only have one type of PHO and no Bun Bo Hue.

New York ambience in Dearborn. We live near a wonderful restaurant town (Philadelphia) and find that Annam is just as good if not better than the restaurants here---both in terms of food and ambience. We try and eat there whenever we are in Detroit!

Over-priced, over-rated. The food is very bland. Not worth the money. If you want a resonable, authentic Vietnamese food, go to Windsor for a nice, steamy Pho.
