After a long day at the theme parks coming here for fresh made donuts, coffee, and jazz is the way to end the day right.

Good food, good atmosphere. Great for kids and adults. Service is a bit slow when they're slammed during the weekends.

We were back for our annual conference at the Disneyland Hotel and were tired of our usual haunts. So, we headed for the Jazz Kitchen. It was Friday night around 7pm, and I had no idea if we'd be able to get in. I shouldn't have worried! When we arrived we were not only welcomed warmly, if a bit vociferously, so that we were a little taken aback. Once recovered, we were led upstairs to an open room decorated in prime Disney New Orleans style.

Our server quickly arrived and went over the items not available on the menu, along with the specials. Settling in with a glass of wine, we perused the menu. First course: oysters on the half-shell (1/2 dozen Pacific oysters, bloody Mary cocktail, mignonette sauce). The oysters tasted fresh and perfectly chilled. I enjoyed the bloody Mary cocktail sauce as an accompaniment but the mignonette was a tad too vinegary (it was like a single-note: vinegar and nothing else), so we left it alone.

Next, the main course: grilled medallions of beef (Filet mignon, crawfish mashed potatoes, bacon & pecan-crusted green beans, zinfandel reduction). Interesting side-note on the service here. When our entrees arrived, our server asked that I cut into the beef to ensure that it was cooked to my direction. At first I was surprised, but then I appreciated the little attention to detail. It was, indeed, cooked to medium rare. And the two pieces of filet (it was maybe 4 ounces of beef total on the plate) were quite good. The four green beans were nicely al dente, but I couldn't discern any pecan or bacon flavor so perhaps instead of bacon and pecan-crusted, we should call them regular green beans. Very good as well, just no noticeable bacon or pecans anywhere on the plate. The crawfish mashed potatoes were flavorful with large chunks of crawfish - yum! And they were well-seasoned. As in, perfectly but not over-salted.

We were pleasantly surprised at the caliber of food, menu options, and service at the Jazz Kitchen. We'll be back next year!

Stay away from this restaurant. – For all the times I've been to New Orleans, I ate at Brennan's once for breakfast. Of course, Breakfast at Brennan's is one of those musts the guidebooks dictate.

This restaurant I thought would be a welcome respite from all the walking. We had dinner there right before hitting the park some more after the grandkids' sleep. The bill for us 4 was over $600, and this is with 2 small children! We had to send back a fish entree my wife ordered because it reeked. When it was replaced, the next fish according to her was dull tasting, as if the fish had been soaking in some solution to keep it from spoiling.

Stay away from this restaurant, they do not offer a good experience!

Great Music & Atmosphere/Good Food – I had dinner at the Jazz Kitchen on a recent Saturday night. I made a 7:30 reservation (the live jazz starts at 7) and specified I wanted to be seated in the courtyard so I could still hear the music, but I could also have a conversation with my girlfriend (this notion was based off other reviews.) We arrived at 7:20 and checked in. It was going to be a 10 minute wait for the courtyard, or if we wanted they had immediate seating in the main jazz/bar area. I stood inside the main room where the band was, and it wasn't really that loud, so we opted to be seated in there. We were about 15 feet away from the band and I was able to hold a conversation at a slightly elevated level. To me the whole point of eating here was to be able to listen to some jazz while I ate, so it was perfect. Our waitress seemed nice and the service was good. We ordered the Filet Mignon Muffuletta appetizer for starters. It came out promptly and was tasty. For the main course I ordered the New York Strip Tchoupitoulas and my girlfriend got the Blackened Salmon and Crawfish Tails. These both came out very quickly after the appetizer. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium) and tasted great. The onion rings were crispy and hot and the blue cheese potatoes were excellent. The green beans were steamed perfectly- nice and crisp and tender. My girlfriend's salmon was cooked perfect, looked gorgeous and melted in your mouth, but it seemed like it could've had more flavor from the kitchen- a little bit of lemon and some salt/pepper fixed that. The rest of her meal was very tasty. One note- our water glasses seemed a bit dirty (I seem to be noticing this a lot in restaurants days) and one of our appetizer plates was dirty, but the waitress immediately brought us a new one once it was realized. For dessert we got a small order of beignets, which were awesome. They were a good size, nice and hot, and piled high with powdered sugar- yeah... I would definitely go to the Jazz Kitchen again.

Great Music, awful food – We were looking for a good live music lounge to hang out in and drink. Unfortunately we got there just in time for the last song they were playing, but boy were they good. If the drinks were anywhere close to decent we would come back for sure. However every drink we tried from the Mojitos to the martini's were just awful. No one finished their drink let alone ordered another one. The $25 plate of jambalaya pasta would not have made the cut at Denny's, let alone here. It was noodles, ketchup and overcooked chicken. And this was supposed to be a "house specialty". The apertizer sampler was equally appalling. The artichoke dip tasted and looked like it was made the day before and had been drying out ever since. The chicken was cooked at least twice as long as it should have been and the calamari was decent. The coconut shrimp were fantastic though! We should have just ordered that.

If only the drink were anywhere near acceptable we'd return for the great band. However never again I'm afraid

Great Food, Great Service, Great Restaurant!! – I have been to the Jazz Kitchen several times. Each time, the food has been very tasty! Though I was a little disappointed that the Fried Green Tomatoes were no longer on the menu, I was still really pleased with the appetizer sampler (best Coconut Shrimp EVER), shrimp and lobster ravioli, and double chocolate bread pudding! My most recent visit was for my bachelorette party. Having done the clubbing scene, I wanted to do something different and sure to be fun. We spent the day at Disneyland, then showed up early for our dinner reservation. Seating hadn?t started yet but the bar was open so we headed in. There were 8 of us and Ryan, the GM, took care of our first round of drinks! Most of which were doubles!! Jorge and Sam were delightful bartenders and chatted with us while making our drinks. Poor Jorge was stuck assembling Mojitos while Sam got to make the double tall Grey Goose and tonics. Finally seated at our table in front of the stage, our very patient and attentive waitress for the evening was Carley. Her service was perfect and she always checked on us at the right moments to make sure we had everything we needed. She even let us know about a wine special that night and we took advantage of 4 (or 5) bottles (don?t worry, we stayed within walking distance of the park). We also really enjoyed the live jazz band. In addition to the great restaurant staff, we also want to thank the fun and understanding Jazz Kitchen patrons that night who supported our cheering, singing, conga line, and general chaos. For those that were not as amused, I hope you were still able to enjoy your food. Whether you are looking for the setting for a romantic dinner (there is seating away from the music) or a lively place to partake in some live music and have fun with friends, Jazz Kitchen is an excellent choice in Downtown Disney.

Brennan's Jazz Kitchen – It's all about the music. That's the magic and why it's called a "Jazz Kitchen." Eat somewhere near the action, definitely downstairs. We escaped into this magic place during a rainstorm, and decided to have a drink while waiting for the worst to pass. There was a full 4 piece jazz band in the bar complete with singer. We decided to eat. The music was worth whatever we paid for the food. The service was slow and laid-back; when there's a show that's a good thing. They let us move closer to the music during the meal. Brought us way above average food, for about what you'd pay at a restaurant without a floorshow. If you like tablecloths, cajun cooking, and good tunes this place is for you. If you're into the lines, fast food, and the hectic pace of Disneyland you should eat in the park. Brennan's is definitely my kind of place.
