Nice room, newly remodeled, but cheap towels & TP
We come to the DL Resort several times a year and usually love the Disneyland Hotel, but lately we noticed a downgrade. Their accomodations used to be very good, but now we see cheap thin towels, like what would expect to see in a motel 6, add to that, the toilet paper is the cheap 1 layer toilet paper. A $300 a night room should be 5 star all the way, so shame on Disney.
We told them it was our 20th anniversary and they didn't even acknowledge it. In the past when stayed here for this event they'd decorate our room a little, or send a gift basket, or something, but no... the price went up and service and quality went down.
I am starting to think it's time to stay at a neighbotring hotel instead, because the Disneyland Hotel is just not worth the extra money.
Things often change for the worse – I had memories of staying at the Disneyland Hotel many years ago. Back then I remember the monorail being near the hotel. Last time I went to Disney land, the Disneyland Hotel was under renovations and was closed so I stayed at the Paradise Pier and had to take the Tram to Disneyland, I guess it was better than walking! When I called ahead to make reservations, I talked to Carlos. He guaranteed 10th floor facing the park, and told me that the monorail was very near the Disneyland Hotel. In fact, he put me on hold several times making me believe that he was doing what he said. The nightmare begins. When we got there, we told that there was no rooms on the 10th floor or above available and they had no rooms facing the park. After the check in cast member made several trips to the back room, we were told that we had to stay on the sixth floor facing the parking lot! They called this a premium room and charged for it, UGH. After staying for five nights at the Disneyland Hotel we were not impressed. We had to walk from the hotel to Downtown Disney just to get to the monorail. Of course it was closed! Then we had to walk all the way through downtown Disney for what seem like forever to get to the to the front gate. Even our 12 year old daughter complained about the long walk! Very inconvenient for an expensive resort! Then we called to asked for extra pillows and towels. Two phone calls later after an hour, they finally arrived. When we woke up after the first night we were all stuffy and sneezing! Room was dusty. We had to request better cleaning. For the price room should have been dust free. Even as a annual premium pass member we had to pay almost 300 per night. Oh, by the way they lock all the lobby bathrooms after midnight, make sure you carry a coffee can! Not recommended. Stay at Motel 6 and get much better rates! You will still have a long walk, but it won't cost you as much!
Horrible service as Goofy?s Kitchen – Our table and silverware was dirty, the person who was calling diners to tables was unnecessarily rude to us on several occasions and the manager seemed to care less. Bravo to the kitchen staff though; friendly folk and their American cuisine on the buffet line was fantastic. (Couldn?t get enough of those lemon bars!) However, coupling the good food and the bad service together, I?m still not sure the experience of the character diner overall was worth $40. The host himself single-handedly ruined the magic of my Disney day.
Stay at your own Risk!!! Disneyland Hotel could careless about YOU!!! – I just got back from a stay at the Disneyland Hotel and it was NOT a pleasant experience! First, I had to wait 30-40 minutes to get checked in. Thank goodness My child was 13yr and not a toddler who can't wait that long. I was not pleased that they only had 3 "Cast Members" working the desk while there was 4 other "Cast Members" just laughing on the Conciegre side. I thought if I stayed at a Disney Hotel, I would get better service. Boy was I wrong!!! I got Superior service at the Best Western Park Place Inn compared to this place!!!
Then when I checked the room for what it had, it was clean but had not been throughly cleaned! I found crackers and broken shards of glass under the bed. Again, I am glad I had a older child versus a smaller child/toddler. There was also trash near the curtains. Plus the "Do Not Disturb" sign means nothing to the maids! My son was not feeling well and I put the sign out for him to get some rest before we went to the Parks. We had 3 knocks on the door by the maids in a 2 hour period!
My other peeve, Goofy's Kitchen!!! Talk about BAD service!!! Where do you go where you have to pay for your meal and tip them too before you even eat the meal? I was yelled at because I didn't know I had to pre-pay my meal. Then when it was time to be seated I was not smiled at and they acted like I was making it so hard for them!! The food was good but service was HORRIBLE!! I told the Manager but got the brush off. BEWARE OF GOOFY'S KITCHEN!!!! GO SOMEPLACE ELSE WHERE YOU ARE TREATED LIKE THE GUEST THAT YOU ARE!!!
Save yourself the money, Stay ANYWHERE else – I've been to Dinseyland many times over the years, and we decided to take our little one for his 4th birthday. We arrived to find only 2 people working the reception desk. After 30 minutes in line, we finally got to our room, then dropped our stuff and went straight to the park. My boyfrend got into bed that night and said "ouch" (not his usual reaction), he had discovered two small shards of glass embedded in his left leg. The next morning we took them down to the front desk and presented them to the employee there. Our sheets were changed as requested, and the housekeeping manager arranged for us to receive their turn-down service for free. The next morning, the toilet was not "performing" correctly. We finally got it to work and left for the park. When we returned for a nap, the toilet had decided not to work at all. I tried calling the front desk, only to be greeted by a "fast busy", twice. The little one was in the bathroom (the door to which would not shut all the way), and pulled on a hand towel to slide it off the bar.... to his surprise, the bar came down with it. Bonk!! Right on the noodle. Again, a call to the front desk, fast busy. We went downstairs and after 15 minutes of not advancing in line, I gave up. Same thing the following morning. 3rd day, we had checked out already, but I decided to let them know about the problems while waiting for our ride to the airport. The employee said "Ok, thanks for letting us know". I said "Did you want my room number or anything?". I filled out the complaint/concern form on Disney's website once we got home. I got a letter 3 weeks later asking me to call the "Disney Claims Dept". (They had my number and should have called me). The man I spoke to said it was basically my fault, because if I had tried harder, I could have found a manager. They did make sure to inform me about the "statue" of limitations on personal injury claims though. I expected more from Disney. I'll go back to the parks, but not the hotel.

Characters moonlighting from Main Street greet guests in the lobby, and the fanciful Disney thumbprint covers the place. But the crowning achievement is the year-round Never Land Pool--a miniature water park of sandy lagoons, a pirate ship and a crowd-pleasing 110-foot water slide.
Do You Really Need to Stay at a Disney Hotel? – Outrageous cost aside, Disney Hotels do not offer any better amenities compared to the Hyatt. We had a choice between the two hotels & stayed at Disneyland Hotel only because the kids wanted the convenience, proximity and ability to ride the Monorail (which as of this writing, will be closed for the next 4 mos.)into the park. The rooms are quainty decorated with Disney motif and Mickey's face embellished on the boxes of soap, shampoo/lotion bottles. Housekeeping always made sure we had enough glasses, towels and toiletries (which are truthfully, better at the Hyatt). The one day we wanted to spend some time at the Neverland Pool, it was full of children. We moved to the other pool, more of the same. It is nice to be able to walk to Downtown Disney where we ate most of our meals, thus never leaving the Disney complex once we checked in. For future return visits, we plan to stay at the Hyatt.
Get a room above the KOI ponds – It's Disney and every detail is covered. Talk about making staying in a hotel fun. We like to Check in and go to the park, then in the midle of the day go back to the room and go swimming. A family fun place,and it is romantic also.
Welcome Home – The Disneyland hotel is like our second home. My wife and I visit disneyland every year, ever since we were married, and thats around 12 years ago. Our kids grew up spending at least a week every summer at the Disneyland hotel. So it's like coming home. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well kept. And everything is within walking distance, especially with the new Downtown Disney.
