Good Food ......... Service and Attitude Stinks – Eaten there once and ordered to go twice. Food was good, but I won't go back. Stood at front counter several minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. Attitude was nasty and uncaring. They seemed to feel they could ignore me and be unfriendly and not have the business suffer, sort of a nose in the air attitude. Also - if you want fried rice with your meal instead of white, they will not do it,,,,, you have to order an entire order of fried rice for about $10 extra.

Terrible customer service. Will not return. – I have eaten at Hong Hua on several occasions and thought it might be nice to host a small wedding reception party there. Strike one-I called to ask about dates and fees. A woman took my name and number and never returned my call. Strike two-A week later, I called again and discovered my name and number was written somewhere and no one had bothered to call me back. I was told, "Please call back, it is lunch and we are VERY busy" . Okay, I'm about the throw significant business their way, but obviously it doesn't matter much! Several hours later, the manager called.

He didn't apologize and informed me that I should come in to take a look at the menu. I agreed and told him when I would swing by later that week.

Strike three-when I arrived with my fiance, I asked for the manager. He told us, "I'll be with you in 10 minutes, I have to FINISH MY LUNCH". It wasn't 10 minutes. We waited for 20 minutes and decided such shoddy attention to service doesn't deserve our business. The manager called almost 30 minutes later and asked us where we were!

I cannot frequent an establishment where the service is poor. I was willing to overlook a few things, but when my business to host a party is not appreciated, I will take this as a cue to take my business elsewhere.

I was very disappointed and word of mouth can the worse kind of advertising a business would want.

In this economy, what a shame to turn an opportunity to host a party and gain new customers.

I will be sure to tell my friends why I decided not to host my party here.

what a shame!

Over-rated – I found that this place is highly over rated. I was expecting great food based on the reviews. What I got was mediocre carry-out . Save your money.

Yummy chinese food in a sophisticated setting – After receiving top honors for "Restaurant of the Year" in "Hour Magazine," I decided to give this non-descript roadside restaurant a try -- and I'm glad I did. I've eaten here probably eight times and only once was I disappointed with the fried rice & chicken (it smelled like a dirty wet dog, but the server was quick to replace my order). Other than that, the mushu is simply delicious, the hot& sour and eggdrop soup are fantastic and the ambiance is sophisticated and warm. This is a great spot for a date or special occasion.

Best Authentic Chinese – I really enjoy the food here it is lacking all of the grease. The staff is really nice worth every penny. I would not recommend this to people who enjoy the chain restaurants.

Outstanding Chinese cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere – I love many of the cuisines of Asia, although the Chinese food I've found in the Detroit area has always been lacking - too greasy, not a good balance of spices, just blah. Hong Hua blew me away. This is the best Cantonese food I've had in the United States.

The menu is quite extensive and impressive. We ordered appetizers of chicken lettuce wraps (pretty good) and spare ribs (outstanding). Then, we shared a lemon shrimp that was terrific, a spicy "bird's nest chicken" with vegetables and lychees (fantastic), and our favorite: scallops with and asparagus. Every dish was excellent, well prepared and presented, with crisp vegetables and a perfect balance of flavors. I'd have to say it was a little pricey, but worthwile.

We made note when a Peking Duck was served to a nearby table. It looked absolutely delicious as the server carved it for an attractive presentation in front of the diners.

The atmosphere was comfortable, a little formal but not stuffy. The service was pretty good, and they did not rush you at all as you enjoyed your evening.

This is a terrific restaurant that I highly recommend.

Pretty good but doesn't live up to the hype – I had heard so many raves about this place that I opted to take my boyfriend here for his birthday instead of P.F. Chang's. While the decor and ambience are much nicer than most of the other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Michigan, the food was not quite as good. We ordered a beef dish, a chicken dish, and shrimp fried rice. Decent, but nothing spectacular-- I've had much better food at P.F. Chang's. A big problem was the service. The service was almost too fast, and we felt like they wanted to turnover our table and get us out of there as soon as possible. The waitress started hovering almost as soon as we got there, so we hurriedly ordered our appetizer and entrees at the same time. The appetizer came immediately, which was great, but we barely had time to finish it before the entrees came. The waitress hovered around a lot but didn't speak English very well, so it was hard to talk to her and she didn't do much besides continuously refill our water and place my napkin on my chest (not on my lap) in the middle of the meal, without saying a word. Afterward we did linger for a while finishing our wine, but the meal just felt very hurried. Overall I would say it's decent, but the food wasn't all that great. Granted we only tried three dishes, so maybe there is other stuff there that's better. But they should work towards making it a more relaxing, comfortable experience and hire a wait staff that is more personable and communicates with the clientele.

Arrogant management. Service was marginal. I will not return!" – Overall, we were displeased about our dining experience.

It offers a poor wine menu by the glass- only Blackstone merlot and cabernet. After taking two sips of wine a piece, we opted to bring our displeasure of the wine to the server. Instead, we ordered a different bottle, but the two glasses of Blackstone remained on our bill. I asked the bartender why she didn't take the them off the bill, she stated that the owner looked at our glasses and decided we drank too much of it so the charge for the two glasses stayed While, it was a spoiling moment to the beginning of our experience, but we decided to let it go and enjoy our dinner.

When seated, we were approached by one server, but didn't see her for the rest of our meal. Another server took our order and asked for brown rice and light soy sauce, which it carries neither. Eventually, I had to ask a passing-by manager to remove our dirty dishes. The original server finally returned to pick up our payment, which we thought was very peculiar.

As a resident of Farmington Hills, I often vacillate between this place and its competitor Pallas next door. For a fine Chinese dining establishment, it felt more like a production assembly line- commiserate to a fire drill, and no acknowledgement of its most important asset- it customers! If Hong Hua prefers word of mouth recommendations- regardless of how packed it gets, I suggest better business practices, variety, and more attentiveness to keeping its customers happy and returning.

Best food, Friendly Staff, Good Ambience – Hong Hua is my favorite Chinese restaurant !

I've been eating there since shortly after it opened ~ 5 yrs ago, and I've never had a meal that wasn't great. The staff and service are excellent.

They make you feel like royalty.

It's a little pricey, but it's worth it !

Upscale chinese in a chic surrounding – This place was voted restaurant of the year. It is very good, but not the best (go to MonJin Lao). The whole fish was great, skip the wonton soup. Romantic surroundings however.
