Long Time Customer who LOVES Il Posto. I have been a long time customer of Il Posto. In fact about 10 years. The new menu is the best selection of Fine Italian Food offered in the entire city. I eat out alot and really love Italian Food. The staff is the best they have ever had and the new owners really care about the experience their customers have while dining at Il Posto. They have me comming to the restaurant more than ever. From a long time customer who loves this restaurant if you have not been it is a must to try. For the customers who haven't been in a while you need to go in and taste the new menu and wine selection for yourself!
Loved it , Loved it, Loved it all!. I have heard several months back the restaurant was under new management. And the rumors were right. They have a recently updated dinner menu that will knock your socks off if you are like me and love great italian food. I would recommend reservations if you decide to visit this restaurant. We walked in the there was about a 15 minute wait. The selections on the new menu was worth every minute of the wait and the wine list is exceptional. This is a must visit again during the upcomming holiday season.
Finest Italian. Some of the best Italian food I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I have recommend this restaurant to all of my family and friends
HORRIBLE service. I truly hope mine was an infrequent & isolated experience as I would expect decent service for the prices...other than our water our drinks were never refreshed, nor were we ever asked if we were doing ok, needed anything, etc. The only times our server came to our table was when we placed our order, when the food came to the table, and to ask about dessert. I tried to justify the lack of service to the possibility of a "packed house" unfortunately including our table there were only 5 tables. When we did catch a glimpse of our server, he was so preoccupied ordering other staff around - almost to a dining distraction, I was embarrassed to have chosen this restaurant to entertain my clients for the evening. The food was fine, however not good enough for me to return for a solo & thirsty dining experience.
Lunch before the Theater. Wonderful food! Magnificent atmosphere! My friends and I had lunch there before going to the Fisher Theater and let me tell ya? the restaurant itself was a show! The waiters were in ?full tux and immaculate! They were courteous and attentive. We left the restaurant feeling like royalty. The food was Heaven! We made our reservations online. The website was helpful and very informative, we knew exactly what we wanted before we got to the restaurant, which saved us a lot of time. I recommended Il Posto to ?everyone.? "Visit the website!"
Out of this World Italian Cuisine. My husband took me to Il Posto for the first time last week for our 25th anniversary as a suprise. He knows how much I love Italian cuisine. This restaurant reminded me of the dinners we had on our honeymoon in Rome and Venice. My husband had the Executive Chef Matteo Giuffrida come to our table and prepared a special meal for our celebration. I felt like I was on my honey moon again after 25 years.
The Place To Be - Italian Fine Dining. For those special celebrations when you want every thing to be perfect there are few restaurants that can deliver perfection. Il Posto happens to be one of those special places. From the food, to the service, to the wonderful Italian atmosphere you really do get it all. I took my mother there for her 85th birthday and it was every thing I have come to expect from Il Posto. The entire staff made sure my mom felt like she was the center of attention. You can count on it that my next special celebration I will be making reservations at Il Posto again. I can't say thank you enough - Shirley
Best Italian in Detroit! Hands down.
I hadn't visited Il Posto since they changed ownership because I had heard bad things about the change. But I had friends in town who insisted on eating there, so we went. I don't know what more anyone could expect from the service or food, but everything was PERFECT. The place hadn't seemed to change at all, except for the faces.
The new-ish chef (Matteo?) was very charming and came to our table and explained the specials for the evening, suggested appetizers, and joined us for a champagne toast on the house. He even brought out a live lobster that was to be my friend's dinner. There are pictures of him with various celebrities and presidents at the entrance, so he's the real deal. The graceful maitre d' (who was definitely was directly from Italy) suggested the perfect food and wine pairings. And the tableside service is just like being in Italy.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent wine. Il Posto deserves all of the many awards hanging on its walls (Hour Detroit Rest. of the Year, AAA 4 Diamond, Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, etc etc etc).
Food and Service Impeccable. Great meal and service was impeccable and very friendly! Will go back there many times! Everything from the valet to the waiter to meeting the owner was perfect-just like in Italy, which I've been to several times. The quality and authenticity of the food was fabulous as well.
Italian restaurant offering a relaxed and upscale meal..
In Short
Deep salmon-colored walls, heroic chandeliers, white linen, fresh flowers and an intelligent waitstaff that shows its stuff tableside. There's an emphasis on seafood, especially among the hot appetizers, such as shrimp and spinach soup. Fresh pasta is combined with high-quality ingredients, from the classic basil pesto to lobster. Seabass from the Mediterranean, traditional veal dishes such as involtini, scaloppine al limone and saltimbocca.
