Great BBQ Joint in San Antonio – We got there about 15 minutes before they opened for lunch and they let us come in and have a beer while we waited for them to finish getting ready. We had the pulled pork, pork ribs, brisket and jalapeno sausage and it was all very good. The sides were great too and they have quite a selection of bbq and sides. The wine and cigar bar looks like a lot of fun but it doesn't open until the evening. Lot's of atmosphere, very relaxed and cozy, and friendly service.

perfect bbq joint! – OK. where do I start? This place is everything you would want in a bbq joint. It's a laid-back atmosphere and a great break from bill millers and gradys which have lost their charm and flavor a long time ago. The pulled pork with jalepeno sausage is the reason we went. They take the pulled pork and chop up a whole sausage link, roll it all together and put in on a bun. It's so juicy and flavorful that it doesn't need bbq sauce. I also recommend the green beans as a side. They offer buckets of beer and domestics for 2 bucks a pop all day any day! Go hungry because they really feed you and the barbed wire has a friendly staff. =)

Kick back with a beer and enjoy the intense flavors at this smokin' Southtown spot. – The Scene
Set right off the blossoming art drag of South Alamo Street, Barbed Wire has an artsy, semi-tropical look welded to its down-home digs. Ranch-style novelties, bamboo shades and bold-colored painted portaits, giving this smokehouse a sort of Gauguin-goes-Southwestern look. The eclectic feel is augmented further by a big-screen TV that, in the evening, luridly lights up the entire dining area.

The Food
With an honest-to-god smokehouse out back, Barbed Wire is not just another fly-by-night spot looking for a hook. While the place isn't devoted strictly to barbecue, the meat served is authentic Texas smokehouse. Its cooks aren't afraid to shock the delicate taste buds of tourists who've never experienced a truly spicy meal. The Jamaican jerk chicken is drowned in a jerk sauce so incredibly hot that it can bring tears to the eyes of even the most asbestos-mouthed Texan. For those that prefer less napalm on their dinner, the extraordinarily smoky baby back pork ribs are so slow-cooked that the meat drips from the bones. White-meat lovers will appreciate the inventive chicken dishes.
