Family Favorite for Sushi – My extended family patronizes this restaurant regularly, and it is among our favorites. We've never had a bad experience here, so if consistency in good food, service, and expedient seating is what you're going for, this would definitely be the place. Even on the busiest of nights, the wait for two usually won't go over 15 min. If you have more than that, and it's friday/saturday evening, I'd recommend making reservations, as that wait can be alot longer.
As other reviewers have said it is hard to find the first time, it's across from Cottonwood Mall, but behind the old Denny's almost hidden behind the foliage of the enormous trees that give its water front dining it's secluded feeling.
I'd recommended the walnut shrimp, but be prepared for something unique when you order it. As for the sushi, the Red Dragon roll has always been my favorite, closely followed by the caterpillar.
Best chinese food experience around!! Generous portions and great sushi. – The food is great, the prices are fair, and the service is fast and friendly. It is a little hard to find the first time, but is very much worth the search.
It was good – The chinese food was good, but not great, there are certainly places worse. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but the sushi is really nothing special as some people have made me believe. If you're looking for great sushi I'd recommend going someplace else. Jasmine is a decent resturant, my experience wasn't horrible, but it was nothing to remember or going back to.
Consistently High Quality – I had been to the Jasmine a few times for chinese food, and had always found it very good. However, when the sushi bar opened, we found our new local haunt. While the Jasmine doesn't have the best sushi I've ever had, it is consistently very, very good. Whether we sit at the sushi bar, or get take out, the service is always prompt and friendly, and the sushi is fresh and delicious. I would recommend asking the chef for the "special roll" that's not on the menu - good stuff.
Jasmine isn't chinese its a spice – The food they serve is tastes like one of those take-out chinese restaurants. The ones that don't offer dining in. This food doens't really excite your pallate. The spices don't seem to present themselves as they should for these Chinese-American classics. I highly recommend the Peking Duck. Its the best I found in the city.
Perfect introduction to sushi! – If ever you want to introduce someone to sushi, this is the place to do it! The food is tantalizing, the surroundings excellent, prompt service, not too expensive, the waiters even give suggestions that are perfect!
Good Food! Great Deal! – I love Jasmine! It is my favorite chinese restaurant and I go almost every week. Among favorites: chicken lettuce wraps and their homemade potstickers (especially their house sauce!). For those who haven't been yet, it is definately worth a try!!!
Take your pick: family-friendly Chinese food or a more sophisticated sushi bar. – The Scene
Formerly the Toucan Cantina, the restaurant's main dining room has Asian touches in the d?cor, while windows from floor to ceiling suggest a ski chalet. Outside, the patio, trees and a grassy area overlooking Cottonwood Creek are inviting. Sushi attracts some diners, but families come for the mildly flavored Chinese dishes.
The separate sushi menu is limited and predictable, but the selections are fresh and the sauces will clear your sinuses. Lunch specials--from moo goo gai pan to Kung Pao shrimp--are served with soup, fried won tons, lo mein and fried rice. Appetizers like mu shu shrimp or chicken lettuce wraps could be a light meal, but the hot and sour soup is uninspiring, and the spring rolls are actually crisp-fried egg rolls. None of the dinner entr?es is particularly spicy, but chef's specialties like General Tso's chicken and happy family offer tender meats, fresh vegetables, and flavorful sauces.
Very Authentic – I'm a returned LDS missionary who served in Hong Kong. This is the most authenic Chinese food in the valley. Very good. Try the Curry Chicken. Mmm Mmm Good.
Beats Wendys! – Our family enjoys eatting "take out" at Jasmine. Very reasonable prices for a family of five.
