Eye brow – Placed seemed very sterile. However my piercer, whose name i forgot, was not skilled in eyebrow piercing. Perhaps she was new. My eyebrow piercing was not aligned properly and multiple piercing shops commented on how poorly it was pierced. I was having problems with the piercing (yes i followed proper cleaning instructions) and I did have to take it out. Luckily, I did not develop any infections. But I just want to stress the importance of finding out how long this person has been piercing and what type of training he or she had.
great, friendly atmosphere. – Walking in, I was not intimidated at all. the girl behind the counter smiled and then helped me with everything I needed. The woman who did my piercing was extremely nice and informative. I didn't feel unwelcome or alienated. I DEFINITELY recommend SSTattoo for anyone looking to get their first tat or piercing. I know I'll be going back.
a great experience for first time tattoo – my friend and i went to southside tatoo for our first tattoos and we had a really great experience. we did not know what to expect but we felt real comfortable when we got there. i was the leery one because it was her idea but we got lucky with the draw and got veronica as our artist, i got to go first and while she had me totally at ease she did a great job with my "bone guy" tattoo. she then was able to give my friend the tattoo she really wanted. it was a day i will not forget. thanks.
They're flawless! – I've been pierced by South Side tattoo four times and I've gotten two tattoos and I love them! The atmosphere is phenomonal their piercers and tattoo artist are well informed and they're very clean. I reccomend Veronica for tattoos, she's a wonderful artist and very easy to talk to, she kept me laughing through my hour and a half session and left me with a gorgeous tattoo.
good experience, not so good aftereffect – I was in Pittsburgh in June '08 for a visit home. I live in WA state. I decided I wanted to get my tatoo done. Brandon did a nice design, love the tat. It didn't even really hurt, gave me ointment and advised how to keep it clean, wash at least three times a day, etc. Very nice guy, not knocking him. Well, it has faded a bit and the white part in my red, white and blue double hearts are not white. I wanted to get it touched up by a local artist because I'm getting married in a few months. The artist took a look at it and said the white part will never be white because he said the last artist tried too hard and I seem to have scar tissue underneath the color because he "tried to make it bulletproof." So, needless to say, it would be useless to try to get it fixed up a bit. Do not get me wrong, I love my tat and I was told I can come back for color retouch for free...but I'd have to fly cross country. Well, nothing like a second opinion, gonna get another artist in a local shop to check it out. Regardless, would still reccommend SS Tattoo because the atmosphere is great and they make you feel comfortable. Plus, they keep the pain to a minimum.
BEST SHOP EVER! – I have had my last 2 tattoos and 3 piercings done at South Side Tattoo and I have never had a bad experience. I had 2 different artists and 2 different body piercers and all were equally professional. Everyone there is so nice from the time you enter the door to the time you leave. Before finding South Side Tattoo I had been to several other shops none of them being a good experience at all. I have to agree with the other review that if someone had that type of problem they must be talking about one of the other shops in southside. Once again they won best in the burg and that is coming from the people so obviously they are doing something right. I can guarantee if you go to South Side Tattoo and you see how professional, clean, friendly, and I could go on , but the bottom line is you will never go elsewhere again.
Best place I've been to. And I've seen plenty – I now have 4 tattoos from South Side Tattoo but my first tattoo (BIG MISTAKE) was done at a different shop in South Side. I went to South Side Tattoo and they did a beautiful cover up for me. Now South Side Tattoo is the only place I will ever go. When I spoke to the receptionist he was so nice and helpful, he came out and traced my old tattoo then told me I would have to make an appointment so the artists could come up with a few options for me to look at. When I come in for my appointment I saw the drawings and they were all perfect I have never seen such nice art work come out of any other tattoo shop in Pittsburgh. What was so nice was that there were three drawings to look at, and that made me feel like that artists really cared and took there time so I could have options. I never thought my old tattoo could be coved up with flowers that look so nice. After the tattoo was all done I was so happy that old ugly tattoo was gone. Everyone at South Side Tattoo is highly talented and they know what they are doing (Unlike all of the other shops in Southside) that is why I have no clue what that one review is talking about. I think they might be talking about a different tattoo shop in Southside. Because my experience there was nothing like that at all and I can not believe that the people that are always so wonderful to me would ever do anything like that to anyone, it?s just not them. Thank You So Much South Side Tattoo you are the BEST SHOP IN PITTSBURGH!!
Best Tattoo shop on the east coast! – Southside tattoo is the best shop anywhere! All of my family, friends and self have gotten all of our work done here. Well after a couple of us made a mistake and went somewhere else first. But the good think about that was Southside tattoo was able to fix that work too. Veronica is hands down the best tattoo artist ever, as for the rest of the staff everyone is great. As for those that feel the need to leave a bad review I guess you just can't make some people happy no matter how hard you try. Since it seems like you are standing alone it must be a problem with you not the shop. Your deposit money was returned and still your not happy. If you didn't get your tattoo at Southside tattoo I'm sure it wasn't as great as it could of been. But I guess you showed them! As for everyone I know and those of you I don't know yet, we would wait a week or longer if we had to so we would have the best work possible. Southside tattoo my hats off to you, keep up the good work. The rest of us out here still love you!!!!!!
Best in the Burg! South Side tattoo advice. – First off let me say that South Side tattoo was voted best tattoo shop in Pittsburgh several times. Veronica( the owner) is by far better than Kat Von D in my opion. Many other reviews state it took a very long time and everyone is not nice to you, which is un-true. I must admit, it was a long time but the shop only has 5 or 6 rooms for tattooing and 1 room for piercing and after your experience you'll relize the time was worth it. It is better to get an appointment made instead of waiting. If you have the wait down the street are many restaurants.&places to shop to pass time away. If you do leave to get somthing to eat BE SURE TO TELL SOMEONE THERE.If you don't they will think you left and cancell your appointment. and then you will be mad. Also don't be effended if an artist gives you suggestions to make the tattoo look better, rember they are the experts here. As for the person waiting on you, give them time! South Side is always busy and they have many other things, like finding how long it will take for you tattoo, how much, when it can be done, the price for every customer in that shop. Many people visit South Side tattoo everyday, and many of them come out with a great tattoo or piercing. As voted Best in the Burg of 2008 and many many other years, this is sure the place to get a tattoo.
South Side Tattoo = the customer is an annoyance – I have never written a review of a business in my entire life, but South Side Tattoo angered me to the extent of becoming a city search member in order to write them a bad review.
I took the time out to have two prior consultations with a receptionist there about my tattoo and provided them with a few drawings to work off at least 2 weeks prior to the appointment time I reserved by putting a 50 dollar deposit down. When I arrived at South Side Tattoo at my designated appointment time, the busy, off putting receptionist had no idea who i was, and proceeded to tell me they had lost the drawings I gave to them and had no drawings ready to show me. I remained patient, understanding they are a popular business and these things happen. Half an hour later she recovers the drawings, but admits they had been shown to tattoo artists who WERE NOT scheduled to work that day. Then the receptionist began ferrying the worst, messiest, most childlike drawings I had ever seen back and forth between some far off mysterious artist in the back and myself. When I decided after TWO HOURS, (and finally, after begging, getting to speak to the actual artist) that it wasn't getting any better, and they were being so rude to me I'd had enough, I canceled and left. I then had to fight with South Side tattoo for 2 weeks to get my 50 dollar deposit back for the appointment they weren't prepared for, they treated me like trash, and even stooped as low as insulting my tattoo without even seeing it. They are the opposite of "the customers always right". I will never recommend that business to anyone ever again, neither will anyone I know.
