Very disapointing. Bouncer did not appear as a bouncer. – Before I went to pressure I called to ask about dresscode and other info. The dress code was "CASUAL" When I got there about 10pm. This "bouncer" who did not appear as a bouncer told my friend he could not get in because his pants were too loose at the bottom. He said my friend was "too too too casual" WTF? I did not even know that this guy was a bouncer, he had dirty pants on, tore up shoes, raggy shirt, nasty beard, in others words, not presentable at all. EVERY LOUNGE HAS A BOUNCER IN A SUIT OR BLAZER. I was disgusted. How could he turn down a clean cut man down from a club when he looked a drunken construction worker pirate. My B-day was ruin. Pressure is WACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst party you can ever go to!!!! – I went here on Halloween this year. They were so disorganized. They had people buy tickets in advance (to guarantee fast and easy admission) Those people waited on line for hours to get in and they were letting people in whether or not they had tickets. They kept on changing the prices for the tables and bottles. The place was almost empty because they weren't letting people in. Never go here for any party. Drinks are overpriced and watered down.
New Years 2009! – I love this place!! Everytime I come here I have the best time with my friends. It's such a great place to unwind and let loose! I was here for New Years last year and got my tickets through JoonBug and they hooked it up!! I'm definitely coming back again this New Years and getting tickets from JoonBug again!
ehh – I actually worked here as a bartender a while ago and it was kind of weird that the manager - Peter - didn't even remember me. He was very rude to me and my friends especially when my friend had booked the party 2 weeks in advance and shelled out a lot of money for this place. The place is awesome and the few bartenders that I still recognized were friendly. Everybody had fun, but booking the party was pricey.
HORRIBLE service, decent space. – The vibe was great, fun idea with the pool tables and i loved the music--- but it was also very slow for a Friday night! The party WAS booked in advanced and yet when we got to the door the bouncer (who looked like maybe he was hitting the bottle a little to much within his life time) had no idea about it and gave us a hard time trying to get in! So after about 5 minutes we finally get upstairs and they did not give us the correct room which was intended, but the host of the party said it would be fine- so we dealt with it. The service was not the best,*the bartender WAS fun though! gay guys usually are ;) * the guy over seeing our party was very rude and when asked if we could extend our time he flat out lied to my friends face saying " nope no way" and then once her aunt came over he says "oh yeah fine NO problem." Also TWICE, when i was in the bathroom a male worker came INSIDE the bathroom(yes he knocked and asked if somebody was in there, but came ALL the way into the bathroom as opposed to waiting at the door, and once i said" YES someone is in here" he still finished about his task of the garbage.) That made me so angry and so uncomfortable and violated and when trying to explain to the NEW manager over looking the party(the other one felt it was time to go home and pass on the party to someone else) he explained to me that it was the male workers job. Sorry but it is NO mans job to come in the ladies room once one has spoken and shes on the freakin toilet!! They should be happy i do not call a lawyer about that to see my rights! ALL night long the bouncers KEPT watching our party which made for a very uncomfortable time(who wants to dance and enjoy them selves when they have 2-3 bouncers flat out STARING AT YOU the whole time!!- thats NOT fun) Overall the experience SUCKED i do NOT encourage ANY one to bother here! There are so many other amazing places in this city! i will say the idea/ vibe was just okay- music was awesome, pool & friends are always fun.
Great Atmosphere and Crowd, Great NYE Party Spot – This year I attended my first New Years Eve night out in NYC... every other year I have been at the apartments of various friends for parties. I had heard all NYE bar/lounge/club parties are not worthile... too expensive, difficult to get drinks, crowded, basically not fun. Well Pressure was great. There was barely a line to get into the place, which is centrally located near Union Square just above Bowlbor Lanes. The bar wasn't crowded at all, and our party included 4 hours of top-shelf liquor (which, to my surprise, was actually served -- not nice bottles filled with junk booze). Even the coat check was efficient. The crowd was almost entirely people ages 22-25 and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Everyone in my crew (nearly 30 people) enjoyed themselves. The DJ played music that kept most people dancing and the projection screen TVs were perfect when the ball dropped at midnight... the rest of the time the screens showed trippy color animations that worked well with the general ambiance of the venue. The lounge areas were wide and clean and provided anyone who decided to get bottle service plenty of room for friends. One drawback was the location of the 'dance room', which many people couldn't find -- apparently it's down a short corridor that looks like it goes to a bathroom or kitchen. Once I found that room I was even happier... the whole room glows red and has low ceilings to create a small side room for dancing. The main dance floor is just off the bar area, which provides nearly 360 degrees of drink ordering. There were also pool tables that many party-goers opted to make use of, which in my opinion provided another amenity that many clubs and lounges lack. Overall I had a great night and the crowd at the NYE party was just what I was looking for. I would recommend Pressure to anyone looking to have a good time at an upscale lounge -- it definitely isn't as pretentious as locations such as Taj, Bed, or Duvet, but it's just as fun.
Gorgeous furniture, fabulous food, cool people... it doesn't get any better! – I recently attended a private event in Pressure and loved it! When I walked in the guest of honor's name was in lights on the walls, people were having fun playing pool, eating great food and hanging out at the totally cool bar. The inner sanctum (Lucid) the nightclub, is sound proof so we could be incredibly loud inside - with a hopping DJ and changing colored light effects - and outside a jazz band was playing background music so we could actually hear ourselves talk! What a novelty! It was a perfect combination for any large party! I would definitely host a big event there...
Awful experience !!! – I had called the day before my birthday party to make a reservation. They told me that I could come with all my friends without any problems and that the billard rooms would not be crowded.
Guess what ? When we all arrived, Pressure was closed to the public, preparing a special event for the following night ! My friends and I were standing outside, trying to find a nice rescue plan for 45 people on a Friday night. Terrible for a birthday party.
In the end we had a great time, but I will remember Pressure for their great professionalism !
This place is good, but...... – The ambiance is nearly impeccable. The only drawbacks are the pricey menu - which is to be expected in you're in NYC - and the lack of patrons - which may not be a bad thing, depending on what you are looking for. Bottom line, if you are looking to have a good time w/ a few friends and don't mind being the only people there, then this is the place for you.
COMFORTABLE IS KEY!!! – I love this place. You can go with 2 people or you can go with 20 regardless you will be comfortable and sure to have a good time. It's roomy, music is good, there's room to dance, food is good, drinks are not anymore expensive than any other place. LOTS of seating. You can comfortably lounge upstairs have drinks, food and a good time while listening to a good variety of music. Then go downstairs and bowl. I enjoy bowling and after a few drinks it's even more fun.
