The new menu is great! – I love this place, and the food has gotten even better with the new menu. The staff is hot, and the music rocks!! I would definitely make online reservations first. We are all actually going back this weekend
Hooters with Sushi – Possibly the loudest "restaurant" I've ever tried to choke down fish at. Way overpriced. This is a bar with sushi, not a sushi bar.
What is this place???? – A friend and I, lured by the neon sign, entered to be blasted by deafening music. The crowd was all caucasian, youngish girls/guys in their early twenties. You know the saying about Chinese restaurants and whether or not the customers are Chinese? Same deal.
We decided to see if the back tables were quieter. Nope.
We walked passed a man eating california rolls. The presentation was lousy and the cut pieces inconsistent in size. I used to work at a sushi restaurant so I know about cutting rolls.
The waitress was busy talking with her friends? at the bar. Only nodded her head when we entered. When we left, she was still hanging out at the bar talking into the ear of a customer? Probably b/c you couldn't hear a damn thing.
More of a pick up joint (good for bachelors), but for a date, skip it.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Eclectic menu ranging from tacos and tortilla rolls to sashimi and maki rolls; also soups, salads, sake and more.
No mas! – Food was inedible, by that I mean the rice in the sushi was hard and the fihs did not tsate all that fresh. Service was incredibly slow and our waitress didn't know a thing about sake selection. Never again.
Worth the drive from Oakland – Wow, forget the sushi and sake (it is good), I'm going back for the staffone of the best line ups I've seen in my 25 years, pheeeeeeeeeenomenal. Thanks girls you made my night!
this place sucks!!!! – I went to this place last night because I heard it my be good. The hostess was not to be found because she was hanging out with friends in the back. My friend and I waited at the bar while cheesy music blasted in our ears. While we were waiting, a server came by and threw a wet bar towel over the bar and accidently hit my friend. The place smelled like cheap perfume and dirty bar all combined. After waiting 10 minutes for the hostess to show up, we just left.
Worst Service and Food Ever – I had the worst experience ever at Masake with my friends last weekend. We went to"all you can eat" sushi night only to experience a nasty waitress explaining the rules! When the food came out it did not look good so I didn't even try one piece. However even if you do not eat one single piece of sushi you are charged. Beyond that the waitress served another table beer from the bar after we asked her numerous times for water prior to the other table. The unfortunate thing is that we are nice, loyal customers to any restaurant we go to but because of the food and the rude service we will never step foot into Masake again - Don't waste your money there.
Disappointing! – I was visiting from Chicago last weekend and decided to go to Mas Sake's with a group of friends on Sunday evening. I eat out A LOT, and I can say in all my dining out experiences in Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area, I have never experienced such unbelievably poor service. Our waitress was extremely unprofessional and should be embarrassed in the way she represented the restaurant as a whole. The food and ambience was average, but unfortunately her personality and behavior overshadowed the whole experience. I wouldn't be surprised if she submitted the review stating that clients are envious of the attractive waitresses. That's almost comical....one's exterior can't make-up for what's obviously lacking on the inside!
Great start to any night – I would highly recommend a visit to Mas Sake on any Friday or Saturday night. The waitresses are required to be gorgeous to work there, the clientele usually rivals the waitresses, and the food is actually really good. It's the type of place that is full of fun, young people, and it is perfectly acceptable to turn around and start chatting with the table next to you. A dinner at Mas Sake followed by the Marina bars is always a great time.
