Good food and large portions make up for a disorganized restaurant..
The Scene
BaBa D's, a modest single room establishment with framed posters of Syria on the walls, needs to enact some organization skills. Approximately 15 tables are packed at lunch with Pitt and UPMC employees, while two frazzled waitresses rush back and forth trying to keep everyone happy. Lunch took slightly longer than expected.
The Food
Take your pick: Middle Eastern or American food. BaBa D's offers ethnic fare such as hummus, falafils and shish kabobs, but also offers cheese steaks and cheeseburgers. Tabouli, a salad comprised of parsley, tomatoes, onions, lemon oil and spices, is served in monstrous proportions. Flash the waitress a smile to ensure no bits of parsley remain. The grilled chicken platter, prepared with green peppers, mushrooms, onions and a spiced garlic sauce is served with rice, house salad and pita bread, and is an excellent choice for a life less ordinary.
