Best Haircut Ive ever had! – Short and sweet: I sat in chair, was robed, and watched in awe as Mark went totally freakin' ape-shit on my hair. His 25+ years of experience was more than evident as he precisely cut my mane. I cant imagine going to someone else now. His prices may seem steep to some, however, for what youre going to get, he could easily charge more. And people would pay more. Even though he knows this, hes no rude, crude businessman. Hes, fair, funny, aware, and his salon is a wonderful setting to come relax and re-charge. Ive been to most of the high end Salons in this city, with very little luck. Go to Mark at S&R and save yourself any disappointment.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I do enjoy what I do and always have. I am an assertive, creative Hairdresser and bring the results. I am flattered. Tahnk you. Mark
This funky salon is known for its hair extensions--and a whole lot more. – In Short
The quirkily named Spaghetti & Ravioli International Project salon is the place to go for hair extensions. The fun team of stylists cater to the extreme and are known for producing looks that kill. While hair is the main focus here, the split-level salon also offers a full line of skin treatments and products. Hour-long facials, performed in a peaceful, quiet room will make you forget you're anywhere near Haight Street; eyebrow and leg waxing are also available.
Great facials, pleasant experience – I have been seeing Devin for facials for about 4 years, through a move in the salon and several neighborhood moves for me. I'm very happy with his work and trust his judgment with my sensitive skin. I have never left with a fried or over-treated face. He will spend time to recommend good products for your skin concerns and give advice even if you aren't buying from the salon. Also, I have never encountered poor service, a hard sell or a hipper-than-thou attitude - something that spoils many a salon or spa experience. Overall, facials with Devin are a pleasant experience, a good value, and I leave feeling like I've had a spa treatment and a skin seminar all in one.
Fantastic...if you can afford it – Mark Lewis gave me another expensive, though fantastic haircut. In 4 years his haircut price increased from $85 to $150. That said, he gave me exactly the cut I wanted and he made it look a lot better than I had even pictured myself.
If you can't afford $150 every six weeks, consider one of two options: 1) see a junior designer on Mark's payroll. He or she won't cost nearly as much. 2) see Mark for your style defining cuts and go to someone else for maintenance.
The space is open and has a lot of natural light. There isn't pressure to buy products, if you want them there is a well-stocked display in the reception area. Incense was burning in the huge restroom and Asian art decorates the walls. Reception is warm and welcoming and there's actually parking, though you'll probably have to pay for it.
From Pepperoni Pizza to Porcelain – Before I came to this salon my skin looked like a pepperoni pizza. These guys did a wonderful job of identifying the problems with my skin. Then they comprised a skin regimen formula that made my skin look like porcelain. The products that they prescribed work wonderful. The salon is a wonderful experience from entry to exit.
These 2 Guys just keep gettin' better! – I must say that i've been a long time client/fan of Mark and Devin. These guys do know the biz quite well. With much talent and creativity to boot! It's really been a trip to never have had a bad experience at their salon! They've gone out of their way to squeeze me in when i'd call for that o-so desperate last minute hair's a total mess appointment. What pleases me about my visits has to be that my "look" is never stale. Can't say that I mind the ever changing styles even though I do love whatever I end up with each time. I want to convey my deepest respect to them for their devote love of this crazy beauty industry, never making me look like a total hair skag and never leaving me alone hangin' in the washbowl for an hour while working magic on another client's hair!
not going back – I went there for a few months and saw a stylist that's no longer there. The people that work there are totally unfriendly. Even after going there a few times they never warmed up. The owners are totally snobby and think they are god's gift to the hairstyling world which just isn't so. Their work is average at best and I definitely won't be going back.
This is a phony review and It is clear that they have never been to my salon.
Ahead of their time – Stylist /owner Mark did amazing things with my hair- wow- no more boring haircuts that look like everyone elses. He is obviously passionate about hair styling, and motivated to create works of art on every lucky person who sits in his chair. Hes actually the first established hairdresser Ive met who continues to pursue his education. Both Devon and Mark travel to hair conventions in London at least once a year to find out the latest techniques and styles. Their dedication and knowledge shows in their work.
Devon did a great eyebrow wax and lash tint, as well as a makeup consult. Funky and relaxed ambience. Loved it!
Bad Customer Service, Fine Haircut – I found the people at Spaghetti & Ravioli to be highly unprofessional and inappropriate, and although I know they have been positively reviewed in the past and they give a good haircut, I recommend choosing another salon where you will be treated better.
Once again this is a direct bad press by a non-client looking to detour business away from my Salon.
