Julia Blackbird's is only ok. – Julia Blackbird's is more of a spin off of New Mexican food, rather than authentic. The food is ok but not authentic and not all that unique either. As a New Mexican transplant in Denver, I would never take anyone here to introduce them to New Mexican cuisine. The chile is bland. Not hot enough for a native, but I guess they don't really expect many New Mexicans to walk in the door.

Abysmal Service Taints Dining Experience – Last Friday my family and I ate arrived at JB's at 7 PM requesting a patio table. Staff refused to "hurry" any loiterers; We we waited 1.5 hours to be seated! The waitstaff offered us a seat inside, but only after we complained.

Once seated, things continued to go down hill. My sister-in-law ordered a saltless margarita. It came salted. Our beers were warm. I ordered a dish with ABSOLUTELY no cheese because of allergies. Half of it was covered in cheese. No apology or replacement food was offered!

Two of our four meals arrived, but the others were AWOL for over 10 minutes. The food WAS scrumptious when we finally ate (the half w/o dairy). Nobody refilled our water or asked us if we wanted dessert. My inedible meal was discounted 50%. Too little too late--this place surely can can't coast on goodwill forever.

We Love You Julia! – I have just finished reading the other reviews for J.B.s and my advice is. . .DON'T BELIEVE A WORD! Go for yourself and expierence it. It has been fun watching the transition of J.B.s from her original place to the new one. The food is still as good as always and if yuppies change flavor then there should be an FDA warning! New Mexican food is spicy and Julia's touch makes it very enjoyable. Thank you Julia!

Nice New Digs/Bad Service – Went to Julia's last night to eat in the new restaurant. We waited for 20 minutes at the table before anyone offered to take a drink order. We weren't the only ones. The intimate space has been replaced by one giant room and the noise level was deafening. You can't hold a conversation at all. The locals have been replaced by yuppies-in-training who slam the margaritas and make for a disturbing experience.

better food than service – The food was hot but I found it to have enough flavor to mix well with the heat. The corn was great and so were the sopapillas, yum. But the service was so-so, it was slow getting the food and it was a chore to get the server's attention. But otherwise, it was a nice lunch.

Disappointing – I was unimpressed with Julia's. It's in my neighborhood and I had hoped to like it, but the food had no flavor other than spicy hot. I tried my friend's dish hoping it was just that I had not chosen wisely, but it was also only "hot" with no other flavor. I was truly disappointed.

Different, fresh, delicious – Julia Blackbird's is one of my favorites. The dishes are creative, and everything tastes like it was just picked. Love the shrimp burrito.

perhaps Julia Blackbird's is the only 'authentic' NM restaurant around, but the food and service are mediocre at best. much of the food we had there was either extremely bland and/or tepid. whether it's the Taos Tacos, Calabacitas, or Tamales, Julia Blackbird's is sorely overrated; they're lucky that they don't have any competition on that side of town.

go to Little Anita's or Jack N Grill for better NM food. and if you're ever in Santa Fe, try Castro's. i believe their food is what Julia Blackbird's SHOULD taste like. talk about heavenly...

Great Guacamole – My husband and I did "take out"(took about 15 minutes) and tried the recommendations posted on these reviews. The guacamole was spicy, fresh and probably the best we have ever had. The green chili plate and the 3 enchilada plate were also flavorful with a nice kick to it. We would definitely return.
