Best Sushi in the City – I absolutely love this place and I have tried all of the other hip places in the city: Coast, Blue Coral, Japonais, Kaze, Tsunami, etc. You name it and I tried it. Not that those places were not good, they were very good, there is just something about Blue Fin that is super special to me that makes me come back. The atmosphere is nice yet not too fancy. The staff is always super friendy and the Blue fin maki...always delicious (and I have tried every single one.) They also have amazing packages like the Honeymoon that my boyfriend and I always come back for. The Honeymoon is $50 and includes 4 maki of your choice, (we always choose blue fin maki - our favorites: Akayama, Hot Night, Golden Dragon, Shiroyama), 2 miso soups, 2 salads, edamame, and an appetizer of your choice. That is a LOT of food for two people and definitely an amazing deal for $50; the four Blue Fin maki alone cost more than that! We always leave so happy and satisfied and often times, have food to take home with us.
wonderful maki – my friend recommended this place for nice and fresh sushi, so i went just a few days ago. the Tender Sushi. Little Dragon, and the Hot Night Maki was just wonderful and it was very different from other sushi restaurants. when i first came in, the staff by the bar yelled something and it was very exciting to see them. i felt very comfortable. the staff at Blue Fin were very nice and careful... if you're looking for a good-tasting, friendly, and a fun restaurant, i really recommend this restaurant to you.
got cheaper?! – this is one of my favorite restaurants. the staff is very friendly, and the sushi is very fresh. The only problem was little pricy for me, but i just stopped by a couple days ago during lunch time. They got a new lunch special menu. With one entree, i was full and happpy with fresh sushi. Now, i will check this place out more often.. thanks..
Energetic techno beats are a fitting backdrop for this hipster's sushi spot in the heart of Wicker Park. – In Short
A casual neighborhood crowd chills and chats over pumping techno tunes at this sushi spot. Starters include shrimp shumai and seared garlic tuna with avocado, tomato and onion. The menu offers 30 different sushi pieces, from big eye toro to sweet shrimp and baby octobus. Specialty maki include standards like shrimp tempura and spicy tuna, plus lobster hand rolls and the Tsunami, with tuna and yellowtail over spicy salmon.
Best value so far in city – the staff is frienndly, the food is fresh..
first place I found really fresh Uni, and the Blue Fin Toro and Super White are the best.
they are pretty darn quick too.
get there early and plenty of seating, but if possible reservations are never a bad decision.
Thurs is half price drinks also.
Emperor's Feast was AWESOME !! – One of my friends who has tried Emperor's Feast recommended me to try it also..i wasn't expecting a lot cauze the idea of it was so new to me..BUT !! when I actually tried it last Tuesday with my boyfriend, I was amazed!! I was sooo glad that i could try 20 different courses of food that i wouldn't be able to try at other restaurants!! I could feel how much the chefs put their efforts!! I think I'm gonna tell my other friends to try it! I'm sure they would thank me~
Great Sushi – Hip sushi joint in Wicker Park. Love the decor and ambience. Wait staff was attentive, replenished drinks, kept table uncluttered. Fresh fish - will visit again and again!
law student – We were seated very promptly when we arrived at Blue Fin. However, we sat at our table for 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. Perhaps this may be attributed to the large party next to us- but considering the small size of the restaurant, it should have been clear from our lack of menus and drinks that we hadn't been helped. It wasn't easy to get the attention of any server either. They constantly went by without even looking at us. The sushi was pretty good, but not worth the 45 minute wait. Such things do not occur at better run establishments.
Great Maki – The restaurant was fashionably busy for a Saturday night with a lounge type feel and club music to match. The maki (tsunami, kamakaze, chicago, dragon) was excellent but the nigiri was lacking in proportion. The dim lighting made for a laid back atmosphere but the decor was visibly in need of some upkeep. The warm saki and large sapporos were standard and the Nabeyaki Udon was great. Our waiter was especially knowledgeable and pleasant. I may come back for the maki but would never be a regular.
Great sushi bar! – We sat at the Sushi Bar early on Saturday night and had very prompt service. The service was very good and helpful with suggestions. The sushi was excellent - make sure to try at least one of the Blue Fin Maki, excellent. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, very romantic and trendy.
