Former sports shop showcases everything from kitsch to works by top artists. – The Scene
A mix of cutting-edge kitsch and old-school character. The gallery's brown-brick exterior makes it indiscernible from the surrounding neighborhood's various businesses. Inside, the building opens up to reveal wide spaces and offbeat colors. Art is displayed both in usual (on walls, atop pedestals, etc.) and unusual places (stuffed into corners, hanging from the ceiling).
Since gallery director Ellen Yarckin has ties to the Ringling School of Art and Design, you can expect an impressive collection by local and national talents. Expect to see works by such established talents as "HeartArtist" Donna Dowless and illustrator Larry Moore, to name a few. The venue displays a variety of genres, including paintings, sculpture and glass and metal works (the flame-bulb chandelier is a highlight), but also showcases more unique novelty and kitsch items. The establishment also hosts some of Orlando's hippest arts events (gallery shows, etc.). Call for details.
