Good Service – My Red Door experience was wonderful. I had a facial, massage and manicure. The staff was pleasant and no one tried to sell me anything. Everyone was helpful. I will return to the Chicago Red Door Spa on my next visit to Chicago. Best manicure I have ever had. Still looks great after one week.
Horrible Spa – I visited this spa for a wax and will never go back. The reception staff is rude and inattentive. and I was over charged me for my wax by 40%. I called to complain and the relationship manager tolde me she would call me back to get my address so she could send me a discount for the next appointment and I never heard back from her. Given the abundance of spas in the Chicago area this Spa should be more client oriented and drop the attitude.
OK service – Massages here are great, manicures & pedicures are a bit sloppy & uninspired. What bothers me most is that the salon can't keep friends spending the day together on the same schedule and everyone--staff included--seems confused about where clients should be.
Don't do their sunless tan – They now use their own sunless tanning product which smells bad and is so light no one could tell I'd had it done. Go elsewhere for sunless tanning. Manicure nothing special, not worth the price. Locker room crowded and not clean. I was expecting a better day spa from the Elizabeth Arden name -- I would not go back. Better day spas in Chicago.
Not worth a 2 rating... – I was told by the receptionist that I would get Mark, "her favorite", but once I was in the waiting room they told me it would be Jon. Not a great feeling to start, but my haircut was okay. My sisters color turn out great. Luck of the draw here if you are not a regular. If you notice that the only great ratings are those given by people who go there all the time (or maybe those ratings are written by the people who work there). Too expensive for the treatment you receive.
improving – i have some gripes about EA (the dressing room is so small you can barely breathe, weekends are way to crowded and chaotic), but some things have improved this year: they redecorated and it feels warmer and more relaxed, they are using survey cards to gather users' opinions, they have changed their check-in and check-out procedures so that it is easier to get in and out and they have better robes now.
Worst spa experience – I had a facial and pedicure here recently and have never had a worse experience. It is like a circus and is anything but relaxing. The front desk staff is rude and indifferent and the facialist was trying to sell me on a more expensive facial while she consistently insulted me. There was also a baby crying in the next room throughout my facial. The pedicure was average, but the pedicurist was as rude as the others.
front desk/scheduling - DISASTER – I used to visit the Red Door every week. I stopped because their error percentage of getting appointments mixed up was 50%! Every other time I went for an appointment, they either didn't have my on their books, the time was wrong, or it was for the wrong service. Extremely poor service, including managers who shrugged when you tried to get some assistance.
Loyal for life – Asya is a magical with manicures and pedicures and Niameh is absolute perfection with threading especially brows and lip. I am a loyal client to these women for life! Thanks for the great service.
7 – Having to wait for an open spa chair for the pedicure, then climbing in next to another person was cumbersome at best. Manicurist was skilled but her responses were scripted, not a personal experience at all. As soon as one person was through they would clean/rinse the spa and someone else would climb in. My nails looked good but I'm not sure I would go back for a pedicure
